And Malan tbf. He had been in good nick and I'd expect him to play in the India test series.

Don't see why they need 18 players. Surely 13 or 14 is plenty.

And I guess this means Hales international career is over. If he can't get a game for a third string then it's not gonna happen.

Yorkshire will probably go out and sign another player, like Northeast!

18 does seem a big squad - more than they take on overseas tours. Big opportunity, though, for some young players, like Mahmood, Carse and Jacks, and possibly a last chance for some others, like Duckett, Ball and Gregory. Good to see the likes of Payne and Simpson being rewarded for some fine county performances.

I'm currently watching the impressive Harry Brook holding Yorkshire together against Northants with a century - would like to have seen him selected.

Watching Hampshire against Surrey - Surrey have a batsman called Ryan Patel who, for some reason, has copied Rory Burns' batting technique, complete with weird head movement. He's got Hashim Amla batting at the other end, a much better example to follow! Great cricket btw, really hard fought with some fine bowling and determined batting - 5 runs in an hour for 1 wicket, the night watchman, with Amla scoring just one run so far. Proper cricket
