The rain, it raineth every day
Lancashire win by 6 wickets, Livingstone 94 n.o.
I remember the dark days of the 90s when we'd have guys like Hick and Crawley regarded as failures but I can't remember a time when our batting was as bad as this. Take Root and Stokes out and it's utter dross. There was a stat on the BBC that the opening partnership (of 72!) today was our biggest at home since 2015 or something bonkers.
There's not really a great deal of alternatives, but Pope is often compared to Bell, yet by the same point in his career Bell had scored 5 hundreds. Poles apart. We haven't had the ability to get big scores consistently for a very long time now and are far more likely to collapse than build a decent score. The thing is though, Pope, Lawrence and Crawley are all 23 or below. Even Sibley is only 25. They will not be the finished article. I dont fancy Sibley at all, but would probably persevere with the other 3. Lawrence played very nicely today.
Allen looks a good signing.Like England in the test, recovered well there lancs
