...Lancs look on the way to a defeat. Perhaps not a bad thing to get a loss out of the way at this stage.

Great spell of bowling from Neser after lunch and a silly run out put Lancs in trouble. Livingstone again played like it was a T20 game and got out with another poor shot. All very frenetic until Danny Lamb and Mahmoud batted carefully for over an hour, showing there wasn't too much wrong with the wicket.

Mahmoud then bowled superbly for Lancs with no luck, but the openers played well with a 72 run partnership before a lovely Parkinson googly had Cooke caught at slip. Bailey then had Lloyd caught before Mahmoud returned to dismiss Root and have Carlson in a lot of trouble. Unfortunately, Labuschagne looked a class above everyone else and was untroubled in making a run a ball 32, just knocking it around with nothing risky (apart from some quick singles).

Defeat looks odds on - as you say it may be best to get it out of the way now.

Uncharacteristic collapse vs the Kiwis but this England team should still have too much for NZ. To be fair though, NZ is no longer awful at cricket...
just not at the level of the giants of the game ...in order of might England 1, India 2, Australia 3
