Lancs like to rotate their quicker bowlers throughout the season. Already without Gleeson, Anderson unlikely to play many games - options are limited. I imagine they'll be looking for a replacement asap.

Problem is the international bowlers are either wanted for their test teams or are playing in the IPL, so counties tend to pick players like Bird from the next level.

I've certainly seen worse international bowlers than Bird, some of them even wearing and England shirt! He played 9 tests, took 34 wickets at an average of 30.

I'll be amazed - and delighted - if Anderson plays that many games, bearing in mind the injury he picked up in his final game two seasons ago, causing him to miss the rest of the summer.

Given they've got Wells to come in and I'd like to see Jones, Bohannon and Balderson, when he's fit, plus other youngsters like Lavelle, given opportunities, not sure I'd sign another batsman. Jennings seems undroppable.
