Jake Ball to the rescue again.
For India.
For India.
fancied root to get a ton, and a very deserved first 50 from willey has actually given us a chance. India's bowlers are a bit crap, we've just struggled with the one spinner who let's be honest, got very lucky with his wickets today
Root batted very sensibly, nothing too extravagant yet kept the scoreboard ticking over nicely, Willey's fifty was much needed after Stokes and Buttler both went cheaply
Roots the glue in the batting line up, gives us real balance, I agree entirelyIt's why I would always have root in this odi team, everyone else scores quickly so you need him in case of a bad start etc.
In twenty 20, maybe the same doesn't need to be applied, but in most conditions I'd still think he's in my XI
this is a superb display against a very good india side
I had to check his age when i saw him come in to bat, oldest looking 37 year old I've seen, he's playing like it right now tooDhoni has aged about twenty years since that film of his life came out, its almost as if watching someone pretend to be you whilst having affairs with some of the hottest women in Bollywood would be a depressing experience.
