Josh Buttler...how good is that?

A truly remarkable innings, surely his finest in this format even if one of his slowest, the matureness and responsibility shown throughout in transforming an apparently hopeless position to one of thrilling victory marks him out as a very special cricketer.

His star has never shone brighter and these latest exploits coming on the back of such sterling work in the IPL and Pakistani test matches have catapulted him into the very top echelon of current cricketers performing in all three versions of the game.

This one really, really had every thing. Very pleased for Buttler...a calm, intelligent, articulate, modest and polite man. He really must be the Captain in waiting and plays for Lancs too. (very occasionally )

...And people think that cricket is a boring game!

I went today and the £52 was worth every penny.

I was disappointed that we didn't bat first as I wanted to witness live some of this big hitting but what a game it turned out to be.

Low scoring games in any form of cricket tend to be more exciting anyway and it was good to see England win a tight game rather than winning it by posting a huge score as we've seen in this series.

I thought it was done and dusted when we bowled them out for that score and we'd knock that off with plenty of overs to spare but credit to the Aussies they fought back and at 114/8 I thought we were done, but Rashid hanging around with Buttler is certainly what won the game.

What a innings from Buttler. That cracking six that took him to his hundred was pure theatre and no doubt he's a world class player. Just a shame we don't see more of him playing for Lancs.

So yet another win at Old Trafford which is such a lucky venue for England thesedays and Michael Vaughan is spot on in saying Northern grounds are better for atmosphere, even Eoin Morgan said the crowd was the 12th man today, shame though there's no Test match scheduled for Manchester until next summer.

And it now looks like the legendary Old Trafford beer snakes could be a thing of the past as they've now followed other venues in serving the ale in beakers. What a shame!!

Easy, should be five v India and 3 v Aus. They're no match for us anymore. Why can't the test team play with this much passion? Half of the team is the same.

I went yesterday, best atmosphere i can remember! Apart from the ticket shambles LCCC have made Old Trafford an amazing venue now. It looks beautiful.

Old Trafford is truely a world class venue thesedays. The fact it has World Cup semi final and an Ashes Test next summer says it all.

And to think it was only a decade ago that it lost it's Test match status for a number of years.

Jos Buttler at it again. In the T20 international England made 221-5.
Buttler, out for 61, made England's fastest 50, off 22 balls, 5 sixes, 6 fours - and 4 singles. England's second highest T20 score.

Lancashire fought back well in reply to Hampshire's 451, making 411 with centuries from Davies and Vilas, accompanied by the usual collapse by the tail. Hampshire currently 66-2.
