Cricket

right, i love TMS but they did keep harking on about how great this pitch was and sort of downplayed england's fantastic innings, we've waited decades to be competitive in one day cricket, this team is utterly surreal, i think there should be a lot more praise heaped on them. Thinking forward to the world cup, what's everyone's XI? there's a lot to choose from.

Roy
Bairstow
Hales
Root
Morgan
Buttler
Stokes
Woakes
Ali
Rashid
Plunkett

That's how i'd go, i really like willey, but think he may have played himself out of it recently, i think i saw 8 wickets in 16 ODI's before the other day which is hardly great. Wood is a bit too expensive for me, it was a toss up between him and plunkett for that last seamer.

But look how good that is, look at the firepower! All XI can bat, they can just go smacking from the 1st over knowing what they have in the tank and then two good one day spinners with three good seamers. Two wicket keepers, plenty of test players and 4 all rounders.

This depleted Australian side has just been thoroughly demolished and has left their strength in depth looking quite shockingly thin without their mainline bowlers and sandpaper stars.

England too had struggled without Stokes and Woakes at The Grange, and at that time more than a few doubts about our own bowling reserves were being expressed. So it was perhaps the perfect time for the tourists to play them, and for their understudies to push their own names forward.

They had a sniff at one point in the first game, even if England ran out fairly comfortable winners at the death, but were then completely outplayed and never really in the picture in the second.

Today in the third they were finally and utterly broken bit by bit and it all fell apart, their bowling disappeared to neighbouring counties and a monumental total amassed, their morale was smashed and their batting, predictably weak, just fell apart.

The truth is this record breaking win wasn't even much of a shock to anyone, and that's what's truly remarkable.

England had what now looks very much like an embarrassing blip in Scotland but since then normal service has been resumed and they've just continued their long run of exemplary ODI success.

Wow. Just wow.

After that I was quickly on-line getting my hands on one of the few remaining tickets for the last one at Old Trafford this weekend. This England side is something really special.

Roll on Sunday. Love to see something similar!

I remember not too long ago when 250 was considered a very decent score in 50 over cricket. Not like that thesedays.

I remember the days of the John Player Sunday League. 160 off 40 overs was not often achieved.
