Hurt really is a big unit. lolAll over really once Bailey had the South African Kolpak player Bedingham lbw for 25, having earlier dismissed their only other in form batsman, Lees.
Great day for big Liam Hurt!
Next up for Lancs a trip to Trent Bridge for a home game against Notts! Hameed will be looking to score a few I would imagine.
eh? There is literally 1 or 2 good bowling attacks in the world (Aussies, India and us at a push). Jesus the attacks in the late 90's early 00's were FAR better
Michael Holding and Michael Atherton were both in agreement that now is an era where virtually every test team has a quality attack. You can add Pakistan, West indies, New Zealand and South Africa to that list.
They're comparing this particular time not this decade. Some lack depth as with the Windies but all can field formidable first choice attacks. Even Sri Lanka now have some good young pace bowlers to go with their usual strength in the spin department. All about opinions but i would think now is particularly strong because so many attacks are more than decent.
what? none of them have quality attacks. New Zealand at an absolute push because of Boult. Windies? lol Pakistan? Sky did a great job at hyping up that attack. Abbas is good, thats it.
Don't get me started on the saffers... Literally got a semi retired Steyn and Rabada
No point going on with this as we clearly disagree too much.
Philander plays for South Africa but can't be arsed going on with this
Philander has retired tbf. The England series was his last.
Yes Tim that's fair enough going forward, I think their remarks were more in the context of why batsmen's averages in the current day are struggling a little and the bowling attacks they've faced recently was thought to be a factor (amongst others so not exclusively by any means), he has played for them up to the very last series South Africa played in.
My own personal opinion is that there are more top bowlers around these days than batsmen, but the quality of test cricket is definitely lower than about 15 years ago. I see the 2005 ashes as the peak of test cricket with two outstanding teams.
But test cricket, especially series involving england, are great for excitement and test cricket is as watchable now as its ever been. Low scoring matches are far better as a spectacle. Flat wickets with little bounce are bad for the sport.

Simple. They can't bat in test cricket. Look at our batting. Rory Burns and Sibley. Openers with horrific technical faults. I'd dread to think what Ambrose, Walsh or McGrath, Lee & Gillespie would do to them.
I've answered similar questions only a day or two ago so won't do again,
