I remember when Sri Lanka first started playing Tests, it took a long time for them to be competitive. Look at Bangladesh, still struggling for consistency at the longer game.

hope it pays off and they start to get some young talent coming through, I reckon they would have done a bit better ten years ago when this generation was playing for decent counties

Always the way with Old Trafford. Pitch is a nightmare across the county season. Last time Lancashire won the championship almost exclusively away from Old Trafford.

Onions is a top quality player. Additions from Durham (Shame what happened there) have been excellent. Jennings and Onions filling much needed quality and, probably more importantly, experience for Lancs
