haha, they've lost 6 wickets during my lunch break. I've always got the feeling that england really couldn't be bothered with this game. This score shows it. Is Ramprakash still batting coach?
 
first time england have ever been bowled out in the morning session at lord's on the first day. Against arguably the least experienced test team ever played?

Been 80 years since they'd been bowled out in a single session, but they've done it 3 times in 3 years, woeful woeful mentality.

it doesn't feel like an official test and england have treated it as such. As i said before, they should have moved the Ashes to next summer, then maybe they could have had a 3 test series with Ireland this summer and maybe it'd be taken more seriously. But i suspect they still would have picked a load of players looking at Ashes fringe players. They should have played this as a friendly like Australia are doing now. It's a bit embarrassing having this on your test record when you're missing 5 or 6 of the best XI.

Anyway, England's highest ever test score v ireland, would have taken that at the toss.
 
First day at Lord's is often a bowler-friendly wicket. Wouldn't surprise me if we knock them over fairly cheaply too. Though not THAT cheaply.
 
another drop from root in the slips, surely he should put himself somewhere else? Been dropping loads this summer, don't want him dropping the ashes.
