Cricket

..reading players quotes, batting might be a bit difficult for Lancashire at Headingly this morning. They are in a solid position but that can quickly change. Bat for two sessions has to be the aim which would result in a healthy lead.

Cookies great mate Jimmy Anderson needs just one more wicket to go past McGrath as the most prolific fast bowler in Test cricket, what an achievement that would be, in what has become a test match for notable records and one great farewell.

The records Cook and Anderson have set (and Broad is working on), we will really miss them when they're gone.

Kohli. After his record last time around, to come back in a team that's poor in English conditions, score 500+ runs and cause England a few scares, is a very good achievement.

Kohli has been outstanding even if he's enjoyed an extraordinary amount of luck too with dropped chances and referred decisions. Undoubtedly the best batsman in the world with Steve Smith now banned, I think he is anyway.

India don't perform well at all outside of the subcontinent losing all the time away to the major nations, so it's largely a thankless task away to England, South Africa or Australia, luckily for them the vast majority of their tests are in the subcontinent, a much higher percentage than the others and hence they're invariably highly ranked despite losing all the time away.

I think they give a man of the series for each side I think nominated by the opposition's team manager, no overall one.

From England? Moeen for me, yes he only played the last two but he is the reason this isn’t 2-2. Otherwise Curran or Buttler.

For them it’s much easier given Kohli’s dominance, but Bumrah has been fantastic every time he has played as well. In fact this was probably the best Indian pace attack that ever played over here.
