Thing is the science part of this isn’t rushed. They aren’t skipping steps in the testing.
Vaccines aren’t new. There has already been work on vaccines for coronaviruses. This speeds it up a bit.
It is rushed in that it is a priority. The usual lag between trials is gone. No corporate decision about whether it will make enough money to move research forward, etc. All the usual red tape is gone.
Additionally, even though the vaccine is still in trials, companies are already mass producing it so that as soon as it is cleared by FDA/UK equivalent, it can be put on the market. Huge financial risk that would otherwise not happen. Honestly this last part is huge in speeding things up
And when it has unforseen side effects whats the excuse then?
Wish I had not bothered with the yellow fever. Then we just shouldn’t bother at all with vaccines or modern medications in general.

I understand your point but it sounds like you're basing this on the US being the first to come up with a vaccine and Trump being the one to ok it. There are so many potential vaccines in the works that it could come from anywhere. I am completely with you on listening to doctors and experts (hopefully)when/if we get one. But that orange tool is not the gatekeeper over this, just as our blond tool isn't either. While I agree with your premise. And maybe I'm overwhelmed by the fear of Trump.
I only use the word fear because I don't know of a better word to articulate my feelings. I haven't gotten caught up his little gimmicks. I largely thought he'd just come and go. Even if it was unfortunately 8 years.
But after the last 4 months. I'll do my own proper research. Talk to those more educated on the situation than me before I make a decision.
But if a vaccine is developed quickly, in his first term. Before all reasonable projections, and he inevitably takes credit for it. Even if the science us behind it and caught up quick, because that's what we do as people.
I'm gonna take my time and do my research. With doctors not website and antivaxers.
I can't remember a time like this since 9/11. This combined with riots in the streets by me a couple weeks ago. I'm the first to admit I'm reeling. We been reeling for months in NY as a state. The city is so much crazier.

I get you completely and I wasn't trying to call you out. More trying to give you some hope. I have no trust in our government either but I am hopeful that some people that are actually proficient in their field can come up with a vaccine. And our respective idiots won't have any impact on it.Yea I'm trying to convey I'm being overtly centric on if a US company developed the vaccine, probably didn't do a good enough job on that.
It's sad as an American, and I don't mean that arrogantly. Just that I would be less trusting of the vaccine if devoloped in America. I'd much rather it be developed in the UK or Germany.

Bit extreme? People have the right to ask questions though, wouldn’t you say?
Especially when a vaccine apparently can take 10 - 15 years of testing. Especially when according to virologists its ‘mind boggling’ a jab might be ready this year.
I know nothing of medical science and would take the vaccine, but to suggest people don’t have a right to question it is draconian.
are you always so selfish? Not bothered by a vaccine. Unless they tell me I can’t go into a bar or sporting event, could care less
I'm old and fat. I'd take 2 doses if I thought it helpedThing is the science part of this isn’t rushed. They aren’t skipping steps in the testing.
