It's said we're fighting a war against the coronavirus .Yet just like we send our solidiers into battle ill equipped to perform their duties we're also guilty of expecting our health workers-and equally important non medical key workers-to perform their duties without giving them the best protection we can.And that's a sad indictment of the warped and twisted priorities of those governments who clearly big up our armed services and health services when it suits them but don't provide them with enough of the tools to do their respective jobs.

Add JD sports - on BBC news now needlessly forcing warehouse workers into work all for the £££££

The government will do nothing to them because Stephen Rubin, owner of Pentland Group which has a 45% stake in JD Sports is a Tory donor. Putting workers at risk is obviously not his concern and that of this Tory government. My union Unite, are hearing all the time about non essential workers forced to go in to work or they get the sack. The unions need to be speaking up more on this issue.

Its not just them, its loads of online operations.

If folk stopped ordering crap from them, they wouldnt need to go in. I am seeing all the usual delivery drivers around my town, and it is all online shopping orders.

My missus is a legal secretary and is being forced into work her firm is old school i.e not setup for home working. She is so stressed about the implications of bringing the virus home, but for the bosses it's all about £££££££.

It's up to the government to close down non essential companies. As workers have testified non essential companies can't practice social distancing. The government either wants social distancing and non essential people not to work or they don't. Their message - work from home if you can, if not go into work - is incoherent gibberish nonsense. While the individual has a part to play, but JD Sports shouldn't be offering the service. Pubs could practice social distancing but has been told to close down.

People are phoning doctor's surgeries with requests from people wanting a letter from their doctor saying they are in an 'at risk' category, so they don't have to go to work and don't face the sack. Disgraceful.

True - the amount of Amazon prime vans I've seen during my daily exercise outing is criminal, probably delivering 90% non essential guff.

I'm not surprised- I suggested she pulled a sickie last week to try and force the company's hand, but she's doesn't share my militant streak unfortunately.

It is a peculiarity that I dont think anyone thought of initially. I tested it last night, (online ordering) and fully expected my order for non essential vape juice to be rejected with a Corona Koff. But no. Royal Mail delivering tomorrow apparently.

So you have the warehouses at the retailer, the massive depots at distribution hubs, and the army of delivery vans all still operating.
