Could this be OUR time?

Reality check! We're not going to win the league THIS season.
But this is the best squad we have had since the 80's, and we are a match for anyone on our day. The trick is that we need do that 38 times a season. Let's face it, the top 2 have the squad and the experience to do that, but we haven't yet. We can beat anyone in a single match, but to win the league you have to be able to maintain that level for a most of a season, and still be able to grind out results even when you're not quite at your best.

How old are yous fukas ???

Has no-one got a Goddamned memory , here ???

If you SAY it - out loud , IT WILL NOT HAPPEN !!!

It's US . Everton FC . Remember ???

Tony Kay , Tommy Lawton , Bally , Asbo ???

It was all gonna be SO good , forever , but , ...

CHILL !!!

I get it , though . Especially for the ones who have never seen a Trophy . I do honest . However , NOT having given it the big one , uny to FUK RIGHT UP , ....tellin' ya' , it will be SO-O-O-O-O-O-O much sweeter .

Stand on me .

All we've got to do is keep the squad moaner - Tony Hibbert happy.

As Timmy said me ol' cocker - "If Tony Hibbert's happy I'm on a winner"

Toffee Dan started a thread a few months ago about 'the 24 year rule' - we have won the title exactly every 24 years since 1891 (with a few other wins in between).

Last time we won it was 1987, next season will be 24 years.

IT'S ON!

Bangs head down on desk . Hits desk , HARD with fist .

A LOT , ....

While I do really like the squad we're having now, I can't see us as PL winners. We have a good mix of youth and experience and we've managed to let our youngsters get experience as well. But we have a fairly fragile squad anyway. Take away Arteta and Pienaar and we don't have any creative midfielder left. We do rely quite a bit on Jagielka in the defence and Saha/Yak in the offence as well.

Our first 18 is good enough to give us a CL spot, and not just 4:th. But we are going to get injuries during the season, it's inevitable. It's how we handle those injuries that will determine our season. But unless we get long term injuries or loose important players in the transferwindows we should get back into Europe next season, otherwise I'd be disappointed.

What the team need to learn better is to really dominate the matches against the teams that will be fighting in the lower regions of the table and avoid needless draws or even losses in those games.

I think if no big names end up leaving this summer that we can shoot for that 4th position if we stay much more healthier than we did. We really need to get off to a good start though to get some momentum going though.

This morning I re-watched the Everton v. ManCity at Goodison from last year. Wow, that game was so much fun to watch. We completely dominated it from start to finish. We were unstoppable that day, and it was a game without Arteta, Jags, Yak, or Rodwell. If we can play half as good as we did that game, the league very well could be ours.

But nothing is ever that simple...

As the song goes...

fight fight fight with all our might for the boys in the Royal Blue Jersey.

Spurs did that with all that "we win the cup when the year ends in 1" and got spanked by Arsenal (i think) in 2001. The 24 year thing is a coincidence.

Whilst i would love it if we did - we won't. Wait till we draw against someone like West Brom at home, and everyone goes OTT about how we're not good enough and the annual "Moyes has take us as far as he can". We'l soon forget about any League Title talk.

I want to go to Wembley again and win, i want a trophy and i want to finish above the RS

There's no such thing as that phrase. As with work and intelligence - Moyes has proven anything is possible.

Back in 2001 I feared for the very existence of this club. Now I have no fear.

And thats what we must not have. Is just go out and fight every game and show em what Everton's all about.

Doesn't stop people using it though when we go on a bad run. We're all optimistic about our squad at the minute, but i think we should apply some cautious optimism.

I would quite happily bite your hand off if you gave me top 7 and a trophy

Proving all our cards come up on players staying an injuries (which they won't, no team ever has a blot-less season, not least ******* Everton) we still aren't good enough to win the league. We lack a 30 goal a season striker, a squad big enough to accommodate the eventual spell of fatigue that hits each season or the experience to last when the heat turns up at the critical moment in title races.

We're certainly good enough to finish in the top 4 if we have a better rub of the green on all fronts, less injuries than last year and cut out silly dropped points against inferior opposition. Any team in the league has the potential to win a trophy, what you need to set you apart is better luck that year than everyone else, we need a massive swing in fortune to win a cup, almost did it 2 years ago but for Chelscum to accept it as a consolation prize... this year maybe us, here's to hoping.
