Could Moyes/Everton Be Learning?

I say this every bloody season but if we hit the ground running and build up some consistency in the earlier parts of the season then there is nothing stopping us from finishing much higher then 7th.

Not so much learning as, tired of being embarrassed that we always have ****e starts to the season and he doesn't know how to rectify it.

Sorry to say this lads but....................

Moyes doesn't learn. Accidently he might stumble upon a solution to a problem but if he doesn't then he just repeats the same things over and over again with the same results.

As for our poor starts, i'm now starting to believe its got nothing to do with pre season, and everything to do with the managers mindset and the way he sets us up to play.

At heart he is a negative and defensive minded coach who is safe in the knowledge his job is safe as long as he keeps us up. Being the plucky underdog who takes the plaudits for overachieving suits him. All the expectation and pressure that would come with being in 3rd place at Christmas doesn't sound good to him, even more so than the words that would be said if we finished 7th from said position. He wouldn't be talked of so highly then.

So first half of the season its best to just pick up enough points to be safe, stay under the radar, quietly go about our season, trying not to get beat but trying not to pick up too many points.

Then once we get to the second half of the season and we start to look towards guaranteed safety the brave courageous side of Moyes begins to show through when failure and criticism seem far away.

The style of football will change, the beliefs will change. Nothing to lose but all the plaudits to gain for getting Everton to 7th on a small budget, what a great job he's done they will say.

If kenwrong told Moyes tommorrow that next season he must get top 4 or he's sacked then things would be different. We might not get 4th but we wouldn't start as badly as we do.

But kenwrong won't say that and Moyes won't change.

Good read Cena, nice one.

I agree with you in some ways, there does seem to be a different approach from Moyes this time round and maybe things will pan out differently. I'll stay in my usual state of expecting absolutely nothing, so my hopes aren't shattered.

One thing that has got me slightly optimistic though is that in my opinion, the football we were playing in the latter stages of this season was at times truly sensational, some of the best stuff we've produced in years, and I don't think that's much of an exaggeration really.

Moyes learning?

our pre-season consists of morcambe and dundee, don't see any of those being shown on TV. Signifies they haven't really learned i.e. same preparations that usually mean we have a **** start :p in all honesty though, reckon we'll have a good un next season, still need another striker as backup though

Same old same old.

But without the fancy foreign tour, and as yet no decent European team at Goodison to finish it off.

Weird.
