Bird Flu has been a massive part in it, as free-range eggs were pretty much de facto banned due to hens being forced into being enclosed. Lots were culled, too.
Well that was a bleak thing to google

Edit: also what's the logistics like on culling a million chickens in one event

Edit 2: In Iowa, two massive egg-laying operations had to cull more than 5 million birds in single incidents earlier this year.

It's not very nice, to be fair: they starve them with oxygen by either limiting airflow to the barn, increasing the levels of CO2 and overall temperature.

This kills many, but if it doesn't work they pretty much gas them by pumping in high levels of CO2 and sucking out the oxygen. They're then all incinerated.

My uncle was a master cheese maker. They made some amazing premium cheeses that would sell to M&S, independent cheese outlets and whatnot.

It tasted amazing and many would say the price was worth it, unless you knew the same cheese was sold in Iceland for about £1. They just coloured it.

Extra-strong, tasty cheese? Same stuff, just left longer and maybe more annatto in it.
This sounds interesting and seemingly not a setup for a gag. Is there more....?

I've had my email for my current electric/gas bill 3 days ago but didn't have the courage to open it till this morning and it says:
£319.00 in CREDIT.
I pay my bill every 3 months so how am I in credit if I not paid any money???

I’d check and see if it was a mistake, as if it is they’ll be very quick to take it back.

Reminded me of this.
