Energy prices going up again in the autumn.

I guess we’re going to be doing the same dance every year. Prices go down when it’s warm and nobody uses their heating and prices go up in the colder months.

Talk about gaslighting (excuse the pun).
I think it's a normal cycle, except more notice it the last few years having not got a fixed deal for the first time in ages.

Honestly worth fixing with Octppus now as they'll save a bit on the increases over winter, but have no exit fees. If things really plunge next year (making an assumption), jump ship for no cost.

Genuinely awful, especially because the job is quite difficult and people can be such absolute pricks while flying...

I don't think it's quite as bad in Europe, but I don't like that people are paid different rates when on the ground and when in the air. They're still doing tasks ahead of the flight.

50 pubs a month in england and Wales closed per month in first half of this year.

Reckon they make 12p a pint after tax thus unsustainable.

If it means drinkers congregate at a larger pub then business is there, and sustains that premises. The issue is confidence, goin out on the lash was easier when there wasn't the fear that next months gas bill will bankrupt you. Until wages catch up grossly inflated pricing, across the board, then fripperies like socialising and a few pints will be treated according. Tertiary priority.

I don't think pubs closing is a cost of living issue, I think it's a change in culture. People simply have more things to do with their lives than sit and drink in an overpriced establishment, lots of people have given up the booze for cultural or health issues, drinking and driving is heavily frowned upon in today's more sensible generations and frankly most pubs are grimly dank dark crapholes.

Bit of both tbh. Culture change and the expense.

I manage my ma's energy supplier for her. Received the bill. Had a look and laughed my head off. She's used just over £17 in September. But been charged as much for standing charges.

Completely disproportionate to use. She'll barely use much more per winter, it's not an appliance heavy home.
Similar to the water companies, massively inflated cost for connection. Another national disgrace.

They tell you to cut you're use, use less Electricity and Gas, shorter showers, lower the heating and then what you save, they try to add on with standing charges, something the customer has no control of. The Energy Secretary and Ofgem ? Should be looking into that.

Yeah, it hits the poorest disproportionately, as usual.

Inflation down to record low in 3.5 years. This is rather good timing and an expectation of the BoE to drop interest rates, possibly twice before the end of year?
How this will be reflected in winter energy prices will be keen to see. Once again praying on a mild winter and kindly prevailing winds from the icy north.
