Oh well, at least you did the decent thing and apologised to your son about it all, cos lets be honest, its all your fault.

I didn’t have to apologise, I pay for it anyway… I look after all my kids cars, insurance, road tax, mot, servicing… oh and any repairs…..

I’m not blaming Labour, I just can’t understand how something as universal as car insurance doubling or even more hasn’t registered with all of our Political classes…
the political classes universally put their company car on expenses. so far removed from this as an issue it doesn't register. what food banks, there's subsidised lobster and caviar at westminster.

In all seriousness, did you shop around?

Its never a good idea to go with current providers, most of the time.

Nobody rewards loyalty these days.

No, I use a broker who does the hard searching. I’ve used him for over 20 years and he has done a great job, but he also said that a number of insurers have backed out of the market. It’s probably a short term thing but the insurers are definitely taking the piss and all piling in with the cost updates…..

From the ABI website. I'm sure this is part of the reasons but not all as this is industry speaking.

We had two of our work vehicles hit by a drunk driver while they were parked up one night.

First Hilux took 4 months to come back from repair shop. Second Hilux took nearly 9 months to come back (they said waiting on parts from Japan). All the while the fleet hire costs were getting added on to the insurance claim.

Repairs in the end cost about £4k for both vehicles. Vehicle lease claims were over £15k...

That's why our insurance policies have all gone up by at least 40% this year!

I had a lease car while mines was in getting repaired after being crashed into.I got it late in the evening just before they closed. I returned it a few days later having barely used it and then got hit with a bill of £200 odd (Can't remember the exact figure) because of a mark on a tire. Those lease companies have so many ways to extort money from you either directly or indirectly via insurers.
