I think appropriate here - had to call a local guy to fix the heating this week. Took him 5 minutes, something about a dirty censor. Didn’t charge me anything, said to buy him a pint when I see him.

In this current economic climate, we need more honest people like him.
The first one is free...

First one is the deepest...

Car tax rising sharply if you have a petrol/ Diesel or Hybrid car in April, thanks to the party of liars... I mean low taxation. Had my car insurance multi quote through up £350 odd quid from last year, apparently the story is everyone's car insurance rising due yo the higher cost of repairs and parts for cars.

I think there is also an element of cross subsidy to housing affected by flooding, may not be true but I’d be surprised.

Meanwhile my road tax on the RR is over £700, can’t wait to see what the insurance is………

Notified my energy bill will be going down by £100 / month from next month.
Need ring and double check as these type of reductions always seem to leave me in arrears and facing a huge bill in about 6 months time🫤

You did well, fortunately we have lots of tradesmen in the pub who will do similar for mates…..

Local people will do right by you. Part of the community. We have a Portuguese lad local who fixes all white goods. Easily paid and stands over his work.

If your local economy is doing well then you are doing something right.

Sefton Council tax rising by 5%. So thats another £100 a year for absolutely shocking services and road conditions. Its verging on criminal now.

There needs to be reform on Council taxes. It should be based on property value. New purchases should start paying a percentage of the property value. Those in houses that they have had for years can stay on old system until house is sold. The below is the sickening part currently..

  • Burnley had the highest council tax relative to house price with the band D tax being £2,244 to an average house price of £116,172 or 1.93 per cent per year.

  • Westminster had the lowest council tax relative to house price, with band D residents paying £914 on an average house price of £927,774, or just 0.1 per cent.
That Westminster bit kills me...

Birmingham City Council must sell off £1.25bn of assets to repay a government bailout loan.
Details of the exceptional financial support from government have been revealed in draft budget documents published on the council’s website.

Yep, higher council taxes + a fire sale of public assets to the private sector. Nice.

£101 pound my gas bill from May 2023 to February 2024. That's how much we have used in Gas central heated house, much is that down to Welsh government subsidy on new boiler and insulation. Literally on the coldest days its on for 20 mins max and that's it.
