The UK pension age of 66 is set to rise to 67 between May 2026 and March 2028. From 2044, it is expected to rise to 68.

But the research suggests that this is not enough, and that anyone born after April 1970 may have to work until they are 71 before claiming their pension.

This age limit may need to be set even higher, say experts, thanks to the high rate of workers exiting the workforce before they reach state pension age, predominantly due to preventable ill health.

It is absolutely scandalous. If they paid Public Sector pensions at age 71 as well it would soon be stopped.

Working until 65 is bad enough, having to wait until 71 will put even more strain upon the NHS. I wish some of these pensions experts would keep their mouths shut…..

In Soviet times there was a sense of camaraderie and being in it together and getting on with things by pulling together with friends, families, neighbours and work mates.

I don't think we even have that at the moment. It's like a rat race just to get your nose above the sewage infected water.

The tories have destroyed everything in this country. Everything is more expensive yet smaller or not as good be it goods or services. People are ok with ripping people off. Hope is gone for most. There is rarely any sort of community spirit unless they want you to have a tea party in the street to celebrate some Royal rubbish. Roll on them getting the boot and let's hope it's for good. Shame on anyone who voted for them.
