What I don’t get is Covid is clearly going nowhere and with international travel etc new variants are always going to appear. So my question is are we just going to employ restrictions each time a new variant is found? And, seeing as Covid is going to be with us forever, is wearing masks now redundant? Surely better to get your “vaccine” and have increased immunity again if you catch it?

This will be used to force mandatory vaccination in a lot of countries. Even if the vaccine is say 20% less effective it has a big impact. How can we have these unvaccinated vectors in public when this is going round?

No I don't necessarily think so mate. I seem to recall a new variant being found earlier (in Brazil) in the year which was monitored in terms of spread, increase in infection rates, hospitalizations and vaccine resistance. https://www.webmd.com/lung/coronavirus-strains. So it's all about whether a variant will cause problems or not. Seem to be cacking it about the Nu variant though.

Agree on getting a booster, had mine on Weds. Felt a bit crappy yesterday but fine today.

tbf Joe, whether it be headlines in a newspaper or on TV or radio, their job is to think of the most standout, dramatic headline they can come up with.

I mean last night on News at Ten, the main news was the super variant could be able to evade all vaccines......straight after that piece was the next segment telling everyone to get the booster jab to be extra protected.

All we can do is do what we can to help each other which is get the vaccine, get the booster if you get the chance, get the flu jab, help each other out for those that may need a little bit of help and for thr love of God will someone give maccavennie tomorrow's lotto numbers

Am I going mad? When this all started, and we had the Kent variant, wernt we told that as a virus mutates, it can either become more infectious, but less transmissable, or the other way round? Like Delta did.

Either way, pretty confident the egg heads in Cambridge will have an angle on this new one.
