Wow I wonder what data they're taking in the background?
Thus far there has been no suggestion that the app itself is dubious, but it does leave the door open when officially authorised suppliers are so poorly run

Looks like we were naive to think the vaccine was the way out..
You absolute .... (I wish there wasn't a swear filter here).
"There is a valid fear of the same hope being put in boosters" so he doesn't think the boosters are the way out... this thing is quite obviously seasonal, this winter is now a write off because of the government's naive belief that the vaccines would be the way out.. if the health service is still the same joke this time next year then there needs to be massive protests, even civil disobedience.
Reading posts from November last year on this thread after Pfizer's announcement, people are like this is finito this summer (meaning last, 2021).....I felt they were very optimistic.

Can't think if this should go in the Scummy Tories thread or this one. Turns out the 2-day test for my trip this week is via Randox, the company that paid Patterson to lobby for them in parliament. To submit your results you have to download their app, only their app isn't approved and listed in Google Play, so the only way you can do it is to weaken the security settings in your phone to allow you to download the app directly from their website. Absolutely dodgy as [Poor language removed].
Don’t know if it’s too late but if you go on the government website there are a number of options. They’re all clearly in it for the money but the one I used last week didn’t require an app or anything.

You make it sound as though health systems are deliberately putting themselves under enormous strain?
Could be argued that this is the case in Ireland.. in the year 2000 there were 23000 hospital beds in Ireland, by 2019 there were 14500 despite one of the highest per capita health spending in the world we've lost almost 10000 beds in 20 years.

Similar in the UK. A lot less beds now compared to 2000. UK haven't invested particularly well.

Said earlier in the thread that I got my test but my family didn’t get theirs sent in time for day 2. Now on “day 5” and they still haven’t got them. That’s over £200 these idiots have got for zero service. Obviously there has been no track and trace checks either

I've ordered 3 of the day 2 tests from randox and none of them have arrived on time. After the first one I always put the flight date a week earlier so that even when they were 3 or 4 days late they arrived before they were needed. Not ideal though.

I found a place near Kings Cross where you just went in and got the test - they were really good, the appointment time was bang on and they had the result to me the next afternoon.

That said the one in Paris (for the PCR test required at the time to get back) was even easier, cheaper and quicker (the result was with me first thing in the morning).

It's a joke isn't it?
It’s mad. I just don’t think they give a sh.. anymore. And then people will complain if heavier restrictions are brought back in.

I’ll admit, I was lucky to be able to go on holiday so I can’t complain too much. But I went to see my Dad for his 70th birthday and I haven’t seen him for 3 months. And the biggest takeaway I have from the covid situation is how important it is to spend time with family when you can.

I know that’s why you have travelled as well. Must have been horrible for your wife being away from her family for so long
