Really?

As in the UK or in Germany?

At least where I am, there has been lots of people out and about now the weather is nicer but not in any 'big groups' – there's nothing to gather for.

In fact, the only big groups I've seen are all the kids outside school and the supermarket next to it at about 3 - 5 yesterday.

In Germany apparently. I wouldn't know myself because I've been hunkered down already for a week. But the German government is on the news pleading with people to stop big gatherings, saying they'll be observing people's behaviour this weekend and if their pleas are being ignored that they can't rule out a ban on going out for non-essential reasons. Young people especially according to the news are throwing "corona parties" in houses and parks. There are reports of police monitoring the streets already and dispersing large groups, closing down bars that are illegally staying open etc.

Went into the grocery store tonight, the cashier was beside himself, in bits. I was just going to pay and get home to be honest. But my girl asked what was wrong. I'm trying to get out of the door but he turns round and says "every single glove they give me keeps splitting"

Casually I said they should be paying you double, it was off-handed. Honestly at that moment, I was just tired wanted to get home. It was flippant. But I've been thinking about it all night.

I've mentioned this before, if you're not invested in the system. Minimum wages. Why would you take the risk?

"Essential workers" I agree ensure that individuals who continue to supply the public are compensated with the risk involved.

I was told the other day by a doctor that you're highly unlikely to catch the virus from touching a surface because although the virus can survive a while on surfaces it quickly loses its virulence outside a living host

At this stage who knows what's true. I was told metal for 12hrs, plastic and cardboard 24hrs. Facts seem to be a quicksand currently.

What is Japan doing that is keeping this virus so benign to them?

Whatever it is, we should be doing that.

The main one is cultural - they are very much hands off by nature (bowing instead of handshakes, facemasks on the street indicative of an existing thrust towards hygiene). It's why the Asian countries in general have flattened the curve quite effectively as they share these traits, despite often massive population density. Compare it to Italy - large family units, hugs, kisses, along with an elderly population, meant that country was a paradise for this virus.

In general, if everyone stayed two metres away from everyone else for extended periods of time, washed their hands after every transaction with the outside world without touching their face and didn't congregate in large areas, the virus would be effectively contained. But it won't happen as this country has the highest percentage of pure tossers in the world who don't give a crap about anyone but themselves.

Well, I was hoping for more pantie vending machines and Godzilla, but we'll go with that.

USA aside of course....

My local white goods store has seen a run on chest freezers and breadmakers.
Got a new fridge coming in the next 2 hours to replace the broken one purchased in October only last year from AO a Fridgemaster where the dial buttons have disappeared on the temperature dial completely 2 weeks of broken promes from Fridgemaster - first the repair engineer was sick, so they put the date back a week rang them on the day he was to come out ....- another excuse the part had not come in - also they had let us know by telephone two days earlier lying barsterds .... so I told them AO who had been brilliant Ok they could have their crappy Fridge back - AO telephoned them and warned them and AO are doing just that today with a bigger Hoover Fridge costing me only an extra £20 honouring the fitting that I paid for in the first place - my first day of a vulnerable isolation person broken already thanks to Fridgemaster ..... Also the fridge is full of food plus my insulin - the inconvenience etc ...
proves those extendable Guarantees are a waste of money as Fridgemaster can not honour a 12 month guarantees under consumer law - they even tried to charge me for the part needed a thermostat as it was not electrical..urm worked as a Glasshouse expert for over 35 years I told them how a thermostat worked.....so sod off or words I could not print on here...
I have to point out AO took no crap off Fridgemaster either, and customer care from them as been top class in trying to get it repaired for us , and then arranging a quick delivery of any model -
I needed this with Coronavirus distancing rule for me coming in force today on my families mind like a hole in the head head - the fridge is working but at what temperature? My insulin is stored in there fgs...
So a new one is needed -thanks to Fridgemaster not honoring the law of trade..... i.e. a 12 month guarantee on electrical fridge working parts.....
rant over.....

I read all that without taking a breath and nearly died.

I attended the festival.
One week on and I seem to be ok.

It’s impossible to pin point exactly when anyone contracts this virus (it’s totally invisible).

Charlie Austin my believe that but I think he’s just talking wham.

There is serious concern here about the possible impact of the 20,000 Irish on family, neighbours, work colleagues, that insisted on attending despite all the warnings at home.

Reckless.

The likes of Japan, Taiwan etc were also hit harder than most by the last SARS outbreak in 2003, so no doubt were both better prepared and more inclined to take it seriously than we in the west.
