Ugh, it seems tho there was an error, I turned up for the vaccine and they were only giving Pferererere.

Rang my Drs and they said im not due till June, they will get in touch.

Makes sense considering the dates didnt make sense, oh well, it is what it is.

Banana Republic trying to murder you... apologies, just standing in for Davek while he’s on leave.....

It depends what "risk" entails. If the variant isn't getting around the vaccine defences, then the tests are being met.

If infections rise but hospitalisations/deaths do not, there's no justification for futher measures as far as I'm concerned. Scientists will continue to cover their arses until the thing no longer exists; at some point we have to cross the threshold where we accept a level of the disease in society.

A ‘double mutation’ variant just in time to put a complete move out of lockdown in jeopardy. Let’s hope there’s no triple mutation variant on its way because that really would be shocking.

If the vaccines are still effective (as all the data I’ve seen so far would indicate) there should be limited hospitalization/deaths among the vaccinated - that appears to be the initial evidence from the Seychelles.

It is then what happens among the unvaccinated, generally younger population. Is this variant more dangerous to younger people than wild type? Some anecdotal evidence it may be from India but that could also be down to other factors so hard to determine whether you’d expect a greater hospitalization/death rate in those groups.

Then there will be presumably an assessment whether increased long COVID impacts are a significant enough risk to warrant further measures - personally I believe they are but we each have different risk profiles.

Not sure why we should have to coop up inside when cretins like these can't even be bothered to get the vaccine. If they die, they die.

What is disappointing was that the govt were too slow to react again to this Indian variant. We could have bought ourselves valuable time. Now it is too late and the unlocking timeline is under threat
They didn't react as Boris was going over there to promote trade between the 2 countries so didn't want to cancel his visit.
He had to cancel in the end as the situation got more and more serious but once again he left it too late.
