Impossible to book a pub garden today. Absolutely everywhere is rammed full.
Seemed a mixed bag along the Southbank on the walk home today. Some, like the National Theatre, had people well spread out. Others seemed really packed in together with very little space between tables. @peteblue has anyone official checked your arrangements for re-opening or is it largely down to you to sort yourself out in a safe way?

I didn't mean particularly unsafe, I just meant fully booked. Most of the local pubs seem to be pretty good by here.

Edit: I'd imagine the city centre pubs are worse due to space issues. Pubs with large grounds seem to be a bit more spaced out.

Been like that all week by me mate.

The pubs spent the best part of last week getting all the tables ready, so they`re all nice and spaced out.

However, I`m hearing tales of spontaneous piley ons in some of the pub gardens and also impromptu Congas breaking out too.

Huge news if true.

We do it. The council have said they will be visiting unannounced and using undercover customers... whether they do or not we are not really bothered, we’ve made ours safe....

The Elephant is basically booked every weekend until the indoors reopens. We had a look and the available slots are either 10pm or 11am type times.

I pretty much expected annual vaccines, tbh. I think most people have already been prepared for that likelihood.

Concerns Indian Covid variant could ‘scupper’ UK roadmap

The Indian coronavirus mutation could “scupper” the UK’s march to freedom, a leading scientist has warned, despite the lockdown and vaccine programme leading to cases falling to a seven-month low.

Covid-19 infections across the UK dropped to the lowest level since the autumn, according to the latest figures.

But a professor of immunology has called for Britain to be on its guard against a third wave after a possible vaccine-busting mutation was recorded in England and Scotland.

Public Health England (PHE) reported that 77 cases of the B.1.617 variant, which was first discovered in India, have been found.

Imperial College’s Danny Altmann said that as a result, those arriving into the country from India should be subject to a hotel quarantine if the UK is to shut out variants that could set back the Prime Minister’s lockdown easing plans.
Surely India should be on the red list at this stage. My understanding is this is a double mutation and they already have evidence that one of the mutations is a problem in terms of transmission and evading the immune system but don’t know if the send mutation helps or hinders the virus yet

The Stables at Allerton Golf Course is a good bet.

Lovely surroundings, food is a bit pricey for what it is, but the woodland outdoor setting makes up for that.

Plus they’ve turned the putting green into an all singing, all dancing patio beer garden, that seats 250 and has got the biggest outdoor screen for the footy I’ve ever seen outside of a festival.

It was nice to see people enjoying themselves in the sunshine though. Think I've spoken to more people this week than the rest of the year put together. Certainly makes a difference to one's mental wellbeing.
