So they have already said that the vaccines do not protect against infection just that they stop you dropping dead , so if people go out and shops open then the infection rates go up again and then more vaccines needed , how long will this carry on last then

Forever, this carry on will last forever.

People need to stop waiting for it to end, its not going to end.

But we are learning every day, we are bringing more tools to combat it, WE are currently winning this war, no matter what some will tell you, but it really is a marathon and not a sprint.
