Sod staycations, I’ll save my money for a holiday abroad once it’s safe. I’m sure there is a lot to see here, and have been to many different cities in the U.K., it’s just the way Boris keeps blasting on about staycations that really does my nut in.

Health Secretary Matt HanCOCK begins by paying tribute to all those who have delivered "the largest and fastest vaccination programme in history".

He says the "magnificent achievement" is down to "insight and hard work".

Particularly he praises the regulator MHRA who he says have been both tough and flexible.

He also name checks the civil service, private sector, scientists, army and NHS.

*Name checks* the NHS. It is ALL the NHS's work to get vaccines out. The roll out is the significant feature of all this. It is only the NHS that should be elevated above all others.

Got to stop all the jetting around the world.
I see the Brazil virus is now in UK.
3 people in Aberdeen and a couple in Bristol. All of them allowed into the country from Brazil in recent weeks.
Incredible and so stupid. Why does the UK allow this.

They all came via Paris. We havnt a clue who they are, nor what they were returning from doing.

No thanks to hancock or his corrupt friends in the tory party
NHS prime mover with valuable support from the forces, civil service and scientific personnel.
Full stop.

It's currently in Liverpool - in a lockdown - 118; it stood at 158 when the city was dropped into tier 2. It stood at the cusp of another surge (it was back over 240 week 3 weeks after going into tier 2), and the decision to go along with the Tories led to the likes of Knowsley going to the top of the infection table for the whole country.

It was a shambolic policy for all but the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, who Rotheram is a creature of.
What’s the key difference there Dave? The vaccine rollout, that’s what. Even at 150 odd it was still below the national rate back in November

What's the point: middle of winter and begging for Liverpool to open its doors and become a centre of attraction for every arsewipe looking to get pissed.

Do you really think anyone didn't see how that was going to very quickly end up like?

No one forced them to, they chose to make the unnecessary travel instead of being sensible, it’s on them and them alone

Well, how do we know that it was unnecessary?

It might have been for work - what if they work on a vital construction project, or in medicine or trade?

It might have been to see a loved one who is passing away or attend a funeral.

There's lots of different reasons why someone might travel that aren't just going on a jolly.

Also, we only know where these variants are picked up, not necessarily where they originate from.

The 'Kent variant' most likely didn't originate in Kent, it was just discovered there. There'll be variants all over the world that could actually have originated well away from where they are picked up.
