Nice of him to link us to a story in the paper he works for which is firewalled.

Virologist Chris Smirh on the Jeremy Vine show again.

He's so knowledgeable and reassuring and explains things in a way that is both calming and easy to understand.

Johnson could do a lot worse than rolling him out at the covid briefings

@BlueToff you seem a similiar age to meself what vaccine you reckon we'll end up with when our time comes?

Im gonna say Moderna or Novavax - think AZ and Pfizer will have already been done on must and reserved for their 2nd jab by the time we come around to our 1st.

Given that the public get to hear only the facts that the govt is prepared to release. Like an iceberg I’m guessing there is much more to this new mutation than we’re being told.
Boo the WHO with the negative the sheeple don't need to know of it's warning to Britain about mutations

If hestood next Johnson in professional capacity I would your question assessment!

Surely that's wrong, I heard a Professor Macron say it's useless
He never said that.
Look, the French vaccination program is in big trouble due to severe shortage of vaccine. Shortage due to the EC procurement fiasco. Due to not jumping the gun on orders before full trials and evaluations were complete.
What Macron is saying is that we are late but safe, the British cut corners and took a risk.
At the time of his comment, the over 65 isuue was not resolved.

What's everyone's thoughts on the Sputnik V vaccine? The Lancet seems happy with it although from what I can tell are using data supplied to them by the Russians. It looks like the media is slowly getting us ready for it's use in the West.
The initial concerns stemmed from the use of Ad5 vector (common cold) as the delivery mechanism for vaccines due to it being identified as an issue in previous trials for HIV vaccines. It looks like they may have moved past this but the article below gives some insight. It will be great if these recent trials have proved it safe for use.

... and yet if you search for “Pfizer second dose” you get a story on Sky:

Even though that’s been out for 15 hours, that’s the only outlet that I can find who reported it. “Yes, but it’s not peer reviewed!” I hear you cry - but the positive AZ one that’s been mentioned above hasn’t yet been either, according to this:

I thought I might get better results searching for the name of the scientist quoted, one Dami Collier - and it worked, with stories found from goradio, the peninsular (of Qatar) and a medical site reporting it. No mainstream U.K. outlets though.

Then though I remembered how absurd it is to google search news reports to see if something is happening or not. I resolved to instead look at what the experts, the people who developed the thing. They said:

That just backs up my point though?

I did a quick search using one term, and plenty of articles about the risks came up. That was my point?

Also, the AZ trial results that @Neiler posted are very positive for 12 week spacing. So that should just be irrelevant now really sure?

Given we have 100m doses of AZ on order I'd say the likelihood is AZ, but obviously won't know for sure.

May well be Moderna or any other ones we've got coming because yeah people who have had their first dose should get the same vaccine as their second dose (though I know it wouldn't be against the trend for the government to change that, I don't think they will).

I don't really care tbh, happy to just have it when my time comes - which fingers crossed is going to be a lot sooner than first expected.

Germany seems to be doing OK.....Macron is looking at the polls, all he is concerned about is next years vote.....
