It is. The most frequent environment cited as being visited prior to a positive Covid19 test is a supermarket.
Can't see any reason why super markets should need to be used yet most Gp surgerys in the north don't even have any vaccine yet including my wifes patients being sent to the hubs .
Which may i add is working well all be it a bit slow her surgery wil have sent all over 80s to be done by next week.

There's something to that, yes.

However, the question is whether it's a good idea to be bringing people into one to get them a vaccine shot. If we had functioning local health authorities properly funded and staffed they wouldn't come into the reckoning.

No one, surely, would argue that a supermarket is a better place than a local health centre to administer safely and competently a vaccine.
You realise that the people that run these 'in supermarket' pharmacies, opticians etc etc are actually real trained medical people too!!

They don't get Melvin the trolley boy to cover the pharmacists summer holidays...

Do Asda have the facilities to follow up on side effects from vaccine? Maybe they keep their adrenaline shots next to the frozen mixed veg?

Well that's a wider problem - We don't have functioning local health authorities so we have do resort to alternative methods to get this bloody thing in people's arms

A supermarket isn't better than a health centre - but they are probably more roomy and have more modern facilities that local GP surgeries
Which is why I started out saying its a problem caused by decades of degradation of our local state due to the introduction of market forces into the whole of our lives.

Seeing as your pub has been mothballed, why don`t you volunteer your pub as a vaccine centre ?

You could give them all a free pint after every jab and get rid of your excess ale at the same time.

Funny enough it has been suggested, not the beer bit though. Cities are fine to use some big area, whereas they could do the whole village from the pub in a day or two......

Supermarket pharmacists already do flu vaccinations.

Bizarre you're making such an issue of this.
The only thing bizarre is anyone believing its the natural thing to do to rely on a grocery chain to provide a vaccine for a pandemic which their stores are drivers of.
