Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

We have a couple of ladies on tills who have to wear two hearing aids.
They are not allowed to wear the visor masks anymore ( no idea why btw ) and the masks play havoc knocking the aids off.
Obviously they struggle to hear muffled voices and no lip recognition with customers wearing masks either. Not many even think of that issue mate.

One of Sainsburys has a pretty complex medical condition, including a hearing aid. He used to have a badge explaining why no mask, but now has a visor. I asked him why the visor, and he told me he felt that he was doing his bit now, like everyone else. Was quite touched actually.

He is one of the regulars who fast track me through the self scan, and always asks me about Mrs R, bless him.

We gave one fella a mask yesterday as we were sick of him not wearing one.
Today he comes in without one and I just had to say something.
He comes out with “I can’t see the point in wearing one” and I went full on @davek on him.

Another woman ( who complained ) was asked to put one on and she waved it at the girl on the front door as she entered.
She then just put it in her pocket and waltzed off.
Again, I wasn’t having that and asked her to put it on.
“If you ask me again I’m going to complain, what your name ?”
Pointed to my name badge and told her to do just that.
“It’s not compulsory anyway to wear one”

So I then gave her the definition of the word mandatory.
She then puts her mask on and goes and makes the complaint.

Thing is, we’re all sick to death of all these idiots on a daily basis and have been holding our tongues since March. It’s packed here, over 650 in the store, the doors close automatically to let one in and one out when we hit that number, and it’s these clowns who are spreading it around..

Rant over. Soz.

Nothing would give me greater pleasure than being able to refuse service to these tossers.

During hot summers we have signage up asking people to wear shirts for hygiene reasons.
That always ends up in kick offs.

We have signs up asking bikers to remove helmets. That always ends up in kick offs. “You don’t ask them to remove their Burkas do you !” Etc.
( when you explain that you could still knock out someone wearing a Burka if they tried to rob the cash office, you get a blank look)

I can’t wait to see what direction we will give to our licenced security staff now. It will need to be rock solid for them to not want to risk losing the badge as well.

It's a welcome sight to see stores siding with the legislation and shouldering some of the responsibility even though they're actually not required to do so.

There'll be those who are aggravated and will kick off, which staff shouldn't have to face, but a firm stance and refusal may go some way to help stem the tide.

I think I said on here the other day that I wouldn't be surprised to see a rising tide of in fines over the coming days and weeks; a surge would be even better.
