Sorry, not a clue.Does anyone know if you can get the vaccine if you have an auto-immune disease and take drugs like methotrexate which lowers the immune system?
@RAFUH any idea?

On your second point there is evidence for the Oxford vaccine that its overall efficiency goes up with a longer time between shots and found this whole thread interesting
Unlike a lot of issues over the past few months my coronavirus medical twitter feed seems sharply divided as to whether a one shot approach (at least for a few weeks as the virus is rampaging) has an acceptable risk/reward so I really don’t know where to land on this one.

Great info. Thanks.Patients on immunosuppressive medications were largely not included in trials so we don’t know a lot including if there are any safety issues not seen in immunocompetent.
The other concern is efficacy. If your immune system is suppressed, you may not have a strong response to the vaccine.
All that said, immunosuppressed are considered higher risk for severe disease and the vaccine is recommended by CDC.
Also recommended to keep on with all the protective/preventative measures such as mask wearing since it may not be as protective.
People with auto-immune disease can also get the vaccines.
All this is for the mRNA vaccines, Pfizer and Moderna.
Recommendations could be different for vaccines with different mechanisms.
He's not the one distributing them or claiming 'burnout'.I cant believe there's a shortage of vaccines; Johnson told us we had 40m doses of the Pfizer vaccine secured. He wouldn't lie to us.
I hate to say it, but we need a proper lock down. Like the first one.
Combo of the new strain, the bell endery of enough folk, and the window to get people vaxed being on us, says to me there is no alternative.
Walking through London Bridge Station earlier and they have signs up warning of big fines, but probably saw a dozen people without a mask on.We’re pretty much in that first lockdown across most of the country (Tier 4) in terms of what’s open/allowed. People just won’t follow it the same as they are as scared of it anymore.

I know @Moomin will label me again as coming from "anti-mask" brigade, but my dislike is fairly mental. I struggle a lot, and can hardly breathe. Surely I technically can.The resistance to wearing masks is honestly one of the things I have found hardest to understand about this whole pandemic - I just can’t wrap my head round it.
I’ve had bras and shoes that I have voluntarily worn for hours in the name of decency/fashion that have been much more uncomfortable than a mask and they haven’t had the upside that it reduces the chances of me inadvertently killing someone!

Thing is, I'm an emotional poster, if you look at far right folks, as they always find stuff to rally, they are furious. I have never been furious since March, its obvious I'm hurt, I miss hugging my friends as I was never on good terms with my parents. I miss it and even though this particular feeling of some guy on internet is not more important than loads dying. But I can't help it. It is lose lose. Also, It is tough to enjoy life while you cannot even show you are smiling. Faces dont even mean anything anymore, it is bunch of heads. When you cannot enjoy fully fresh air (defo not saying masks make you ill or that the air inside is dirty etc, mind) It just ruines my day. It makes me alert all the time. It was the same at starbucks when things were open. I enjoy my coffee, read my paper and suddenly put on a mask for a deadly virus when I go to Wc. This is not living for me, it is only existing. I don't wanna think of death so damn often. For me, lets stay home where we dont even need a mask, feeling secure and hurting no one, then go out and enjoy life WHEN and only when not wearing a mask wont kill anybody. I never liked the term new normal for this reason.
Data is definitely limited but that is where the judgement calls come in. Am sure there is a lot of modeling going on putting in different values for the following variables and seeing the impact on ICU demand/expected deaths"Exploratory analyses showed that increased immunogenicity was associated with a longer dose interval (see Immunogenicity Table 3). Efficacy is currently demonstrated with more certainty for dose intervals from 8 to 12 weeks. Data for intervals longer than 12 weeks are limited."
Then the 3 month gap between 1st and 2nd jab - which we're now told will be the regime here in the UK - looks to be pushing the outer limit of what's known in terms of retaining the first jab's potency before administering the booster?
I admit I have zero idea of reading the finer detail of a report like that, but that seems to jump off the page a bit from the relevant passages.
If the data on the AZ vaccine is correct, that the later you can leave a booster shot the greater protection you get, then that's obvioulsy encouraging. But the decision to apply that longer gap to Pfizer's vaccine beggars belief and has me wondering about the AZ claims - which look like they chime in with present difficulties a little too conveniently....I'm sure that's misplaced cynicism, but....Data is definitely limited but that is where the judgement calls come in. % Protection given by first dose
% Additional protection given by booster
Days of protection given by first dose
Increase in population exposure by new variant.
From a mathematical standpoint you would probably want some country to go the UK route just to provide more data but these aren’t just numbers they are people so really must be a very hard decision.
