The oxford vaccine would be the game changer we needed for the uk wouldnt it?

A game any sensible government would not allow itself or it's citizens to be in. For many families and friends it will cruel reminder of who they have lost. It sickening so many are just eager to be triumphant when we have lost so many people unnecessarily.

Had my vaccine last week, they can't guarantee that I'm not a carrier. And that's the trouble rushing these vaccines through, they are rushed and there are no guarantees.

2 months ago it was 70% maximum effective now it's 100%.

Have they sprinkled some sawdust on that?

The measure is 95% effective and 100% effective at preventing 'severe illness' requiring hospital treatment.

No need to make it up. There is probably a need not to conflate two different measures though.

It's an quandary that so many so called liberals and libertarians are eager to play Nanny with the facts all of a sudden. Whatever happened not making this about politics. It would be the most amazing world beating universe inspiring if achieves 90℅ in all who take it regardless of age health gender and ethnicity.

So you'll have to stay in a week past the 22nd until you can be sure the vaccine is 'up and running'.

I;m defo no libertarian. I'll be taking the vaccine just as I took the flu jab.

But it's legitimate to ask questions too. The leap from 70% two months ago to the industry standard 95% is strange IMO.

Great if it's true. But come on, that's a bit iffy.

The 70% was an average across the all doses the the published results in November.

They have published their entire results in full and have now replicated their most successful trial - hence the 95% efficacy.

It's not that suspicious that they give an average across all doses (70%) which was lower than the most effective (90-95%) - have run subsequent tests of their most effective trial and managed to yield the same results on a mass scale.

Crikes no, can you imagine if a front line worker from local authority is caught flouting Lock Down Rules...
Suppose it gives a little confidence that I'm less likely to be very ill with COVID, that's as far as they know currently.

To be honest mate I think they were simply naive and too honest in their original unveiling of it.

If they had good PR and took their time, they'd have realised they'd need to investigate it further before announcing - but Pfizer pushed their hand and they shat the bed clearly.

Basically what we're seeing here is the results of the correct dosage, with incorrect dosages filtered out.

No idea, but I will ask her as she was at an early stage somehow involved in the design process. She did mention that it was projected to be about half the price.

Yes I have read it is about half the price if the bio tech 1. And can be stored at room temperature. So a great improvement. I know a couple of people who work on a care home and they have said they will get the Oxford vaccine because it is one job. But I'm sure I read it was 2. If you could ask I would be grateful

FWIW a lot of the negative PR was almost certainly pushed on behalf of rival firms; after all this is (if reports are to be believed) a vastly superior and cheaper product.
