There were some decent measures in the package, but if they’re thinking that offering loans to cover payrolls for a few months is going to stop mass layoffs, then they’re deluded. They'll need to to do more in this area to support both employers and their staff. Just offering us further debt isn’t enough.

Agreed. If you are a struggling business how will taking on more debt help? When you start back up it's likely going to be at a lower output than previously when you were still having issues. Unless these companions have high interest loans that they can replace with these loans to free up more cash it isn't going to make a dent.

Apparently a school by ours has had nearly 200 pupils knock off.

No doubt there are some genuine ones but once they've found out what symptoms to mention to the teacher then it's gone round in record time! I'd be all scowling disapproval but it's exactly the same trick I'd have pulled to get two weeks off school at that age lol
