The problem is, as always, there will be the minority of places that have done almost nothing and do not adhere to guidelines. There aren't enough people to spot check and enforce Covid safe environments so inevitably there will be spread - which will be highlighted by those who are focussed purely on protection of life.PHE suggest hospitality is responsible for 5%..... our pub is the most incredibly Covid secure place you could be...the other pubs and restaurants in the area have put so much effort into making them secure they really don’t need to be attacked again. Everything in the pub gets cleaned and sanitised, everyone wears masks, the bar staff look like they work in a contagious disease laboratory, the rules are followed to the letter. Exactly what more does anyone want.....
It seems unfair to highlight one section of society out as the cause of spread. We have increased public transport use, return to shops, university return, schools open, hospitality back and workplaces returning to normal - without stronger messaging and effective track and trace it should not come as a surprise to anyone.
