The global media over hypes everything. It's exactly how they stay in business.

So don't listen to the "media". Listen to the collective opinions of scientists, physicians, epidemiologists, public health experts, etc.

I can agree that media personalities often have a slant to push ratings, but there are plenty of experts you can read or listen to directly bypassing media bias.

I was reading about how an Indian guy in Malaysia got jailed for 5 months for breaching quarantine.

Malaysia is a very strict country though with not the greatest human rights record.
