Just back from our staycation, and deliberately avoided all corona virus news, for the few days by playing CDs in the car and turned data off on our phones so not to get any news.. it was nice to escape it for a while... but we got home to news that we are now in a regional Lockdown.. living in Laois.

R rate in NI now stands at a similar level to late February, about 3 weeks before lockdown restrictions were in force. Just been watching 2 Virologists interviewed on local news and both of them are stating we are on the cusp of a significant rise in cases.

Interesting point made that as NI is so small, there is a lot of interaction between people from all areas as particularly demonstrated by the Belfast commute. Clusters have been found at either end of the Province (Derry and Down) and one Virologist explained that the concern will be if they can’t find how both clusters are linked (again citing the small size of the North).

With only 5% of the NI population having been tested positive, and having immunity, the need for a vaccine is stark.

Just to disagree. Normally myself and Pete don't see eye to eye on a lot but on Gates seemingly we do.

He and his wife setup a foundation which does actually do a lot for charity. It's all open book you can look up who they give money too.

They also invest in companies who do research and worldwide activities again open book.

Sure some companies are a head scratcher but to say he is not on the level is naïve.

Do you actually know anything about his foundation? or are you happy to fall in line with the Bill Gates evil because he rich crowd.

It’s calculated using data on hospital admissions and infection rates and I think it’s roughly 2 weeks behind real time. More informed posters like @RAFUH, @LinekersLegs or @Neiler can answer that question better than me.

Personally, I’m all for listening to the Scientists and taking their advice as they are the experts.
