Welcome to capitalism. So you’re happy for the big chains to stay open at the expense of independent business?
Because that’s what will happen if you expect the hospitality sector to rely on the furlough scheme.

I dont advocate it, I recognise the reality of it.Wow.
Socialist Dave everybody.
I dont advocate it, I recognise the reality of it.
*sigh*
...it hasn't been capitalism for a century or more.Keeping business closed for an indefinite period and expecting the companies and government to front the wages for staff isn’t capitalism.
2021 is a forecast, presumably not taking the previous 6 months into consideration, especially with news that it’ll be 18 months for spending to get anywhere near back to current levels. Likewise 2018 is an estimate, suggesting the figures are out of date or not particularly accurate, especially when the exact same author on the same website published a report that revenue was dropping - https://www.statista.com/statistics/558154/beverage-serving-turnover-united-kingdom-uk/
I'm trying to find a way of getting the name of the person who's iban it is, to no avail. His problem mate not yours. Just tell him you're skint
In practice though it's not a solution. Businesses survive and trade due to cashflow. Take away revenues for over half a year and most businesses will be on the brink, if not already over the edge.
Business owners are already deciding that it's not worth carrying on. I deal with them every day. Further restrictions carrying on into the Autumn will make things worse. If industries are also stopped from trading in the run up to Christmas, then the economy will be absolutely decimated. I'm not trying to scaremonger, but it's very serious.
All industries will suffer - apart from Amazon!2021 is a forecast, presumably not taking the previous 6 months into consideration, especially with news that it’ll be 18 months for spending to get anywhere near back to current levels. Neither does another report by the same author which shows that the number of pubs in the UK has declined, including the number of Wetherspoons pubs. They’ve gone because they don’t make money.

So Wetherspoons have become more profitable by acting like even bigger bastards. Tim Martin is a horrible man and yes, ideally would pay staff out of their coffers rather than use the furlough scheme. But he won’t, because he’s a massive bellend.
The rest of the industry is suffering massively and there’s a lot of good independent places that provided jobs to plenty that are on the edge. Tarring them in with the likes of Tim Martin’s mob is inane.
Again, for the hard of learning: I haven't said there will be a 'national lockdown'. I said there are plans afoot to lockdown nationally a sector, in the event that schools are looking at remaining closed in the face of a rising R-number.Which is why there won`t be another national lockdown, regardless of what Socialist Dave says or wishes.
Tbf they're not all angelic either, whatever an ethical appraisal is worth. Was it Albert Roux or Marco Pierre White who said that ninety odd percent of those in the hospitality industry were 'c#@+s'? I could name a fair few besides dim Tim.2021 is a forecast, presumably not taking the previous 6 months into consideration, especially with news that it’ll be 18 months for spending to get anywhere near back to current levels. I asked the other poster that made a similar post, so I should probably ask you the same. Do you have evidence they are not Covid deaths or did you just make it up?
Was out on the ale with my mate last night - even for a wednesday evening was very quiet out.
eerily quiet.
Oh my word yes, it’s an interesting business make no bones about it. Plenty of ego and narcissism. I just really hate that moron.Tbf they're not all angelic either, whatever an ethical appraisal is worth.
