Some, certainly mate. Looked at from a slightly different perspective, not performing routine work could be interpreted as being overwhelmed by covid, in the broader sense.
I'd disagree with that, not doing routine work is not overwhelmed, it's over-cautious and unnecessary, in Ireland there were approximately 3000 less cancer referrals (for certain cancers not all) over the same period last year, how many of these will now miss the crucial early diagnosis? For comparison 1738 people have died from corona.
Because of medical care basically closing to everything apart from Covid19 we could very well see a surge of deaths over the next few years of people who could have been easy treated, this number will easily dwarf the amount of deaths from Covid.

Yeah, I was failing to make a weaker point in contradistinction to the term 'overwhelmed'. The weak point was that there's heavy NHS/medical disruption caused by covid, not that there ought to be or that it's necessary. Of that I have no notion.

Not her fault if the Government said it was safe to travel in the first place quarantine free. The direction coming from them is just ridiculous and the papers didn't help by spouting stuff like 'freedom' and 'summer holidays are back on'.

I do wonder why people started booking flights though as this was always a possibility.

Thing is many people would have booked their holidays last year to be in Spain this July and August... Lucky myself was booked last September and still in full lock down when we should have gone. Pretty foolish by anyone standards to be going it alone in the last couple of years with holidays, look full Atol protection, rather than saving a few quid while racing to the bottom.

Remember the days when you only left your house worrying about catching the clap

Simpler times back then.
Do many people actually worry about getting it? Been back in gyms and stuff now and it dosent seem to be a huge worry for most people?

that could be a problem in its self i suppose, the “‘fear factor” has gone, but it just dosent make sense to me how were not spiking badly now with basically everything open?

I don't know tbh, but my point was that I don't think the equipment challenges we faced in March will repeated for any second wave as the supply chain will have had time to adapt.
Yeah my point was very tangential, I know there was a huge rush for ventilatiors that seems to have diminished because they aren’t as vital/not as many people need intensive care as originally thought (which was seen with the field hospitals.) It was almost like because COVID was new it was thought novel treatment methods were needed, however it’s becoming apparent that isn’t the case

Perhaps take more than one source of information in rather than just regurgitate the official line over and over?

Otherwise we are believing everything even when it's wrong.
I totally agree with you. Any informed opinion must take in several viewpoints, while also being mindful that not all opinions are equal, as some are based on evidence and some are just spin in order to support a preconceived opinion. Just asking what are some sources you would suggest, because I usually get my information from scientists, so would be happy to review some alternative reputable sources.

Now we have bullingdon waffling about a second wave , the fact is this clown puppet is only taking orders from the money merchants who control the agenda , you would be better off receiving info from punch and judy

Outside a chemist yesterday talking to a lad who had recenty been to iceland and norway , i mentioned no cashback at supermarkets the lad said been recently to iceland and norway they would not take cash from bars and shops
