November 2021 :coffee:

That's one point of view. Let's hope it's a wrong o

If the Oxford vaccine works it will hopefully be a lot quicker, especially for the western countries who will be buying up all the early supply.

Are you sure about the more enlightened folk. I've read through the last 4 pages and I'm still not quite sure what his point is other than pointing people of different races in Blackburn.

I used enlightened in a very tongue in cheek manner mate. It may or may not be racist to call anyone with brown skin a Pakistani, but it sure as hell exhibits some sort of racial basis.

I wouldn't string someone up for having a racial bias, hell, if I was honest, I know I have some myself, but the first step in someone addressing any racial bias they have, is to acknowledge it's there, so I was kind of hoping that might happen. It didn't, but it seemed a better way of going about it than name calling.

So the CDC is being bypassed on data collection and there's discussion of deploying the National Guard to hospitals to "help with data collection."

Did I move to China?

Hospital figures - 24 the announced total, 6 down on yesterday and 23 down on last Wednesday. Of this 22 were in English hospitals, down 4 on yesterday and 20 down on last week with 16 happening in the past 10 days

I am hearing there will be positive news soon (perhaps tomorrow) on initial trials of the Oxford Covid-19 vaccine that is backed by AstraZeneca and supported by tens of millions of pounds of government money.
The first data is due be published in the Lancet.
Apparently the vaccine is generating the kind of antibody and T-cell (killer cell) response that the researchers would hope to see.
That said, the efficacy will only be properly established in the large phase III programme that is under way in the viral epicentre of Brazil, to deliver a large database that assesses safety as well as efficacy.
One source told me: “An important point to keep in mind is that there are two dimensions to the immune response: antibodies and T-cells..
“Everybody is focussed on antibodies but there is a growing body of evidence suggesting that the T-cells response is important in the defence against coronavirus.
As I understand, not all of the many vaccines under development across the world increase both antibodies and T-cells. But the Oxford vaccine looks as though it has this twin effect.
It remains relatively early days: No effective vaccine has ever been developed as rapidly as is being attempted for Covid-19. And there could still be disappointment and failure.
If the Oxford vaccine is proven effective, it could go into mass production as early as September.

Bojo saying masks aren't required in take away food places but are in supermarkets. The mismanagement of this crisis doesn't stop. One is a usually tiny place with probably 12ft ceilings and the other is vast with 30ft ceilings. He's an imbecile. Can the apologists explain how the experts and his advisors are to blame again please.

Been out for 2 meals since lockdown was eased and each time its been great - quiet, relaxed, few customers in, table service, no wait for food & waitresses have time to flirt with the customers.

Maybe Thanos was right after all - dreading places going back to normal and being packed out to the rafters in a few months time.

All settings figure - 85 the announced total, down 53 on yesterday and down 41 on last Wednesday bringing the 7 day rolling average down to 76.57 with the earlier hospital figure bringing that average down to 23.71

I know I have said a similar thing before, but when you tell me I am right, I get a nice fuzzy feeling.

These figures are now almost "normal" daily deaths. Tragic to families etc, but in the context of a pandemic, unconcerned about.

So yet again, its the next few weeks, with a relaxed lock down, R staying polite, social distancing/masks, to minimise the almost inevitable rise as summer peters out into autumn then winter. Get these next few weeks right, and we have a decent chance come the winter basically.

Tell me thats so Joe.
