No longer pay the licence, don't use their services mate. Strictly speaking, I believe we can still use the news site, but just to stay clear of a whopping 1k fine we've thrown it all in the bin. Paid for years without really using it, never watched their broadcasted content for over thirty years, overall poor value for us, R4 dumbing down since the mid 90's, World Service being heavily diluted and lots of questionable political moves pushed us over the unsubscribe cliff.

I think a van has just pulled up outside your house mate

Proving to the world he really isn't a genius. He's a poor man's Steve Jobs with delusions of granduer.

He has used people in his career to prop himself up and make it seem he is the all knowing intelligent one. Thanks to twitter and social media it shows how brainless he is.

I met him 15 years ago seemed nice but very weird at the time. Talking to others who had to work with him they say he's very difficult. Which most of us have worked out.

Sad that he would take this stance all becuase the county he has his facility at where standing firm. Mad how easy it is for people to become deniers when greed is involved.

See what I meant about some areas on the lockdown list being largely free of the thing a week ago?
Not really, it has appeared to be the case, because of the govmt only releasing P1, but P2 has been becoming dominant for around a month or more. That's why the mayor was puzzled, and if you find that ft tweet, in the comments there are learned prof's only just becoming aware of the issue.

Uh oh, just been reading a Sky News report, that said consideration is being given to locking down a further 36 areas due to rising numbers.

A lot of them iare n London and a lot of them are in BAME areas.

Fortunately Merseyside isn`t one of them.
Conversely the figures for new infections (having tested positive) for the last 3 weeks down in Cornwall are 9, 5 and 1.

Won't take long for that to change though.

Important to keeping studying long term/chronic effects of COVID-19, but it is common to take weeks to months to get back to baseline from a viral or even bacterial pneumonia. Add in days/weeks on a vent and full recovery can be lengthy.

Again this is another argument for the importance on containment/limiting spread. If even it is a younger population being infected now so fewer deaths, there will still be a massive impact including workers not being able to get back to work for weeks as they recover

Relevant excerpt

With the FDA’s standards for an emergency use authorization not much lower than what’s needed for full approval, the first authorization seems more likely to happen in early 2021, said Geoffrey Porges, an analyst with SVB Leerink.
The agency’s guidance, published on Tuesday, said any vaccine candidate would need to prove itself at least 50% more effective than a placebo to earn an approval, and that merely showing immune response data would not be enough.
