So do we lock down Derby or the whole of Derbyshire with its little towns and villages. This looks to me like they haven’t got the numbers sorted out. PHE have rightly been getting stick lately and I imagine this too is one of theirs......
Probably a bit difficult for PHE to get their numbers right when they don't actually have access to the numbers they need to make accurate decisions.

It's also clear that a lot of these viruses originate through the meat industry. Again, I ask people to defer from funding it.
They originate in the wet markets of Asia and the bush meat markets in Africa, not in our Western world hygienic abattoirs.
They are spread by the ridiculous and unnecessary long distance air travel now created by travel and holiday industry.

Good, often overlooked point mate, but intensive ag. conditions and the use of AB's can't be ignored imo, but that's poor husbandry.

They really need to start them briefings again. If nothing more than to explain whats actually going on, cos its confusing the hell out of me.

Well it’s supposed to be an option if we have developments , you’d think a city bring lockdown might qualify . I’ve heard a few pundits speculate that the PM doesn’t really like delivering bad news so he’s keen to avoid a return .

My figures are wrong but think Leicester was working on the basis it had something like 90 cases when in reality that second pillar was something like 800 and odd .As I understand the local authority claim that info wasn’t shared .
I think it had been requested several times, and it took quite a while, discussed briefly during 'pm'q's/'lotoq's today too mate, think 800's too low, more like 900 iirc.

To clarify the exact figures . From the FT

“According to published data for Leicester, the city recorded just 80 new positive tests between June 13-26. But health secretary Matt Hancock revealed that there were in fact 944 as he announced the decision to tighten the lockdown in Leicester, closing non-essential shops and ordering schools to shut to all non-key worker pupils by Thursday.”

How’s this work then ?

Asking for.. well everyone really ?
No longer pay the licence, don't use their services mate. Strictly speaking, I believe we can still use the news site, but just to stay clear of a whopping 1k fine we've thrown it all in the bin. Paid for years without really using it, never watched their broadcasted content for over thirty years, overall poor value for us, R4 dumbing down since the mid 90's, World Service being heavily diluted and lots of questionable political moves pushed us over the unsubscribe cliff.
