It would appear to have a dubious basis to it tbh

That's not to say numbers haven't risen like, but there doesn't appear to be actual evidence either way.

I’m not suggesting those figures are correct just saying what I said really Although it’d be pleasing if it was the case . If attempts hadn’t gone up I would be genuinely surprised for a lot of reasons given the complicated reasoning that leads to that

Indeed. It seems intuitive to believe that more people would have been tipped over the edge by things, but hopefully that won't be the case when we get round to properly assessing these things.

I disagree with a lot of his posts And you can certainly exercise but it’s extremely difficult to maintain muscle size in this lockdown . You can definitely exercise you’d have to be mad to suggest you couldn’t but if you’re someone that wants to build or maintain bigger Muscle size I’d suggest it’s not easy at the minute . I’m not saying it’s impossible , see Charles bronson whose written a book advocating a training regime he suggests you could do in a ‘cell’ , but for most if not The vast majority of people i’d suggest it’s nigh on impossible .

Most serious body builders would have at least a set of heavy dumbbells at home. For the average fitness person a set of resistance bands would do the trick. £15-20 on amazon.

I got some resistance bands (on the basis that gyms etc. are probably gonna be disrupted quite a bit for some time), and they were around £50. No idea if that's gone up in price since the pandemic.

You've been had or you have bought super duper ones. Or like you say they're just popular at the moment and supply and demand has kicked in. I got mine a few years back and bought a set for my brother in law and dad in that time and probably only paid £50 for the lot.

I thought it would just be to get the muscles moving but I've found you can build muscle mass with them when you add the 50, 40 and 30lb bands together just as well as using conventional weights.

If it means his arse gets back to its best let the man pay what he wants lol

You’d lose muscle with no exercise at all, but a simple variety of training can easily maintain. I’ve maintained my mass by simply changing from my normal 5x5 training to simple high rep body weight exercises, focussing on pause reps and time under tension. You’re talking serious competitors that would be concerned with losing a small percentage of mass but the average Joe, easily manageable

Im not a body builder , I’m also middle aged , I’ve also got stuff at home . I’m not arguing you can train and I’m not arguing I’m now skinny but despite training I’ve certainly lost size .of course you can train and of course you can use all kinds of kit but it seems mad to suggest you can do the same level of weight and intensity that you can in a gym be it deadlift or off your chest .

It’s off topic here again and I’m to be clear I’m not saying to can’t exercise and you can’t maintain fitness because you can but I’d be surprised if most serious trainers haven’t lost an inch or two in size . For those in there 20’s it’ll be back in no time for those of us that are older it’ll be a longer journey .

Also to be clear I understand why the gyms are shut and I’m not claiming that you can’t stay fit without a gym .

Amazon product ASIN B00169ZHKM are the ones I got. Was a bit spooked by getting some dodgy crap so spent a bit more. The price included quite hefty postage, so minus that they were £30 or so I think.

Yep. I've managed to buy a weight bench and 50kg of cast iron plates for dumbbells during lockdown. And a rowing machine. I've worked out much more than I have when I could go the gym to be honest..
