Seems like more and more Toriy MPs want Cummings to go, highlights how much Johnson relies on Cummings. He's prepared to kick start another political civil war in the Tory party.

Another Conservative MP has joined the calls for Dominic Cummings to resign, this time Peter Aldous, MP for Waveney
in Suffolk.

He said he was initially “sympathetic” towards Cummings’ desire to protect his son, but having received many emails from constituents highlighting the sacrifices they have made, “the government should recognise what families have gone through and what people are thinking and saying. It is thus important that Dominic Cummings should now stand down”.

“Moreover, questions remain unanswered as to whether Mr Cummings completely self-isolated whilst he was in County Durham,” he added.

I dunno how they’re gonna be able to give a coherent strategy regarding the easing of lockdown regulations when Cummings is gonna dominate the news cycle for the next 2 weeks. If he had any decency, he’d quit on those grounds alone.

If it gets worse, he'll be tearfully put on garden leave, meaning, he'll skulk back in through a back door later when it's all forgotten.

I wonder if someone from the government will be having a quiet word in the ear of Durham's chief constable.

Durham Police formally asked to investigate if Dominic Cummings broke law during lockdown

A police chief has formally written to Durham Constabulary to request that they "establish the facts" about Dominic Cummings' visit and whether he broke the law.

Steve White, acting Durham police and crime commissioner, has written to the force's chief constable Jo Farrell "asking her to establish the facts concerning any breach of the law or regulations".

He said in a statement: "It is vital that the force can show it has the interests of the people of County Durham and Darlington at its heart, so that the model of policing by consent, independent of government but answerable to the law, is maintained.

“It will be for the Chief Constable to determine the operational response to this request and I am confident that with the resources at its disposal, the Force can show proportionality and fairness in what has become a major issue of public interest and trust.
