Used to work for them, now in another department.

I wouldn’t say it was a well run department that deals well with crisis tbh.
Yeah that’s always been my experience with them also. People I know that work for DWP were on ‘brexit standby’ a lot of last year and I’m guessing they were able to utilise a lot of the safeguards that they learnt, to be able to deal with this crisis. I’m only speculating like.

They have assisted greatly in this crisis not escalating further and I'm usually fairly loathe to give them credit.

....UK: 'wear a mask in small shops and public transport...if you like'.
...and now:

"The Spanish government has confirmed that the wearing of face masks will be compulsory from Thursday in enclosed areas and on the streets when the required two-metre social distancing protocols cannot be followed. The rules aren’t that complicated: you need to keep a distance from others of around two metres,” he said. “If logically, you’re on the street and realised that won’t be possible, you put on your mask and that’s that.”

Until now, facemasks - which are being handed out at train and metro stations - have been compulsory only on public transport.

UK Government: "wear them if you like...we're not arsed. We've only killed 60,000 so far. There's not that much need, tbh."

Robert Buckland: policy was to protect NHS ahead of care homes
On Sky News, the justice secretary Robert Buckland confirmed that government policy was to protect the NHS ahead of care homes due to the limited testing capacity available in March and April.
Asked by Kay Burley whether the government focused on the NHS “to the detriment of care homes,” Buckland said:
I think we needed to make a choice about testing and we did decide to focus upon the NHS. The issue with care homes is that we’ve got many thousands of different providers, different settings, there have been lots of examples of care homes that have mercifully stayed infection free, but sadly far too many cases of infection and then death.
Pointing out that deaths in care homes represented 40.4% of all coronavirus fatalities in England and Wales in the week to 1 May, Burley again asked Buckland to confirm that government policy was to protect the NHS first and foremost.
He replied: “That’s right and I think that was essential. Now is not the time to blame people, I think that would be wholly counter productive.”

He would say that as he's pushing Hancock under the bus.

I think you once said that you worked in a care home, what is it that you do ?....

I work in a care home for vulnerable adults with disabilities. But at the moment we've taken in an emergency foster child so, with the consent of my manager I'm on bank, and have decided not to go into work.

I don't know the history of exchanges between the Labour MP and Hancock, but I suspect if any of us worked with someone who was moaning and complaining every day for the past three months our patience would wear thin. It's possible that Ramacca has posted some happy thoughts at some point and I've missed them, but it seems to be a daily feed of this being crap, that being rubbish.

Work have just put me on notice of redundancy. Wonderful.

The fact I’m the only person within the organisation that does my role, which will continue to be needed and will cost them more to outsource doesn’t appear to have been taken into consideration.

Let the bad business management that was endemic within the last recession commence!
