Thought that yesterday, when stuttered and sputtered over his praise of a member of the public question, it was cringe... Wonder if people actually fall for it, I suppose they do!

I dont think its designed for folk to fall for anything. Yesterday was about a Gran wanting to hug her grand children. Today was a young mum with a kid with special needs.

There is a huge number of folk with similar concerns/worries. They are hardly going to start an update about hugs and help for SEN kids, so getting planted questions that are largely apolitical, is a pretty good way of reassuring people.

My take anyrate.

but then don’t make such a song and dance of pretending to be unsighted on it.

Yeah, it would have been better if he said that we have asked for questions about areas of concern that effect real people, everyday. Or sommet like that.

I remember when Corbyn used to read out questions from Maureen from Hull at PMQs. His enthusiasm for involving the public lasted about a month I think.

I think they are the type of personal questions that the media would never ask yet millions want the answer to....

Aye, but in this context, I think its a decent idea.

Like if it was WW2, this briefing would be all about bomb damage or picking spuds or sommet. But Enid from Liverpool might be just as concerned about her kids in Barrow after being evacuated there.

"We have Enid, from Liverpool"

"Mr Churchill, am I allowed to at least phone them, maybe once a week?"

"Of course Enid. We have freed up the GPO every evening at 6.00pm with exchanges being told to prioritise calls from parents to their absent children"

Not a million miles from that is it?

Enid should be more worried about her kids eating the wrong kind of mushrooms and going up the faraway tree.

Considering how Hancock didn’t know the questions from the public before they were asked, he was fortunate to have the answer already written down in his notes which he could read out.
Exactly. It's anodyne BS.

How about a question from one of the poor people in a care home pleading to be protected because people are dying all around them?

Something tells me we wont be hearing from those people.
