not really

just that there has definitely been more traffic on the roads in the last few days (during the day - after 5pm it's deathly quiet around me) than there had been in the previous few weeks, though.

I don't know where people are going though cause there's nowhere to go
But compared with and viewed from France, the UK effort has always seemed to be a wishy washy half hearted effort. Guidelines rather than instructions and requests rather than orders.
But it is obviously difficult to control the public in a country that doesn't have a national ID system.

Probably because most people picking up the virus are in hospital! Get all the COVID19 patients to a seperate hospital and stop the spread.

It's hardly rocket science. Cab we all knock off the murderers crap. Mistakes may have been made, but None of them are murderers
If someone was walking toward another person and could see what was behind that other person on the road (a speeding bus, say), how would you describe that first named person if they told the person approaching they needed to get off the pavement - and thus under the speeding bus?

Would you say they 'made a mistake'?

The instruction to carry on attending mass gatherings at football, rugby, racing and the failure to call time on pub and restaurants earlier and the failure to instruct non-key workers to down tools earlier is in the same category as advising someone to walk under that bus.

But surely the point is that we are doing almost no testing let alone having competition in testing. If PHE is a useless quango serving to line the pockets of tory donors rather than search for and create medical breakthroughs then it needs disbanding.

I said this very early on, when I pointed out the names of the two Directors of PHE who should have been sorting things out. PHE has not covered itself in glory in this matter, but there have been many mistakes made by lots of people.....

And yet the posters on here who would use Germany as an example to beat up our own government would be the first to go apoplectic if it was suggested that we actually adopt a German like model......
It couldn't be done. Germany is a federal Republic, each state has great autonomy. Despite Scots and Welsh assemblies the UK central government has greater power than the Bundestag.

Ridiculous and frankly stupid comparison that has no relation to what happened.

I didn't agree Cheltenham going ahead, but so far there hasn't been any evidence ( i mean scientific not tabloid click bait) that any of it had an impact on the spread of COVID 19.

I'll stick with the actual scientists rather than some utter loon on here who seems to enjoy calling everyone murderers

The masks which NHS workers need must be properly fit tested for each person or they are not worth wearing. They can't just be 'easily adjusted'.

Spot on and anyone who says otherwise is talking out of their rectum.

The main reason being, is that if they`re too tight / too small, they can cause horrendous " pressure sore " type injuries around the eyes, nose and mouth.

Each mask needs to be tailored to the individual.

Think about it logically, sometimes they are being worn for hours on end without being removed.

My missus is a wound care specialist nurse and she`s treating more and more health care professionals with these type of injuries as a result of ill fitting face masks.

Same has happened here in Ireland
Difference being the Irish Government has openly admitted their mistakes and given reasons why they were made
In relation to nursing homes they said they took their eye off the ball as all resources were geared towards getting hospitals ready
People would be more accepting of mistakes if they were admitted and reasons given
No one was prepared for this
