If 12,000 have died in hospital, and 6,000 in care homes, I'm no mathematician but I'd say the vast majority are not dying in Hospital, around a third are dying in care homes and are not being included in the daily death totals the Govt is peddling, you can see why they'd like to omit them.

Because these are people dying who are in 'end of life care' for other illnesses.

So again it comes down to establishing what the course of death is.

In NI we report the full death toll on a weekly basis and the hospital figures daily. It’s because of a time lag in terms of getting deaths data from care homes and residential settings.
There's been no lag here, the Govt has up till now prefered to just count hospital deaths, omitting deaths from the places where the most vulnerable and susceptible to dying from this virus live in our society.

Are they all dying from the virus though?

It's really sad Lou and I don't want it to be that I'm defending the government because I think in general it's a shambles.

But it's like people - and maybe it's fuelled by the media but honestly in some cases it seems to just be the same people who like to spread panic and boss others around (nobody on here, this is more a wider point) - are just wanting to find a reason for the figures to be higher.

We know the official figures aren't as high as they should be but they do act as a guide. Just like there's no way only 100,000 odd people in this country have had the virus - far more have had it and the majority (80%) of those people could have had no symptoms at all.

The Shadow Minister for Mental Health (a working Dr) is being interview on BBC1 and she’s all but advocating that NHS staff should refuse to work without PPE.

While I completely appreciate her worries and concerns, I wonder if Labour will come out with a clarifying message after this because this could be a big issue.

Where is that big drip of a shadow health minister gone?

He’s been just as useless as Matt Hancock,

Yes that is what they are saying, this is deaths where they've had coronavirus type symptoms prior to dying, it's not deaths from suspected natural causes.

So they struggled breathing as they were about to die?

It's not really a valid way of testing it is?

These poor people need to be tested - that's clear. But without testing it's all hypothetical, unless you can test after these people have passed?

I mentioned it the other day Toff, there are a lot of agenda's out there.

So dogs can detect a ‘smell’ that a human gives off when infected by a virus? Wow.

Doesn't surprise me, there's been some work going on for a few years now which is looking at whether dogs can reliably smell some early stage cancers
