Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

I think the bloke is ill but when they’ve lied to us this is what they create . A discussion in the covid/political thread before he was taken to hospital was saying that lying or being less than truthful to the public creates an environment where people will begin to question and disbelieve everything the government say . It’s why I personally think the truth is so important.

The difference with saying he's lying on the ICU issue, is you are by extension implying that NHS workers are in on some elaborate cover up to deceive the public. It's a disgraceful accusation.

Yeah and the doctors and nurses at Guys hospital are all in on it.
They dont have to be in on anything. He's in hospital in ICU and he's never been on anything other than a nebuliser - he is well short of requiring a ventilator (as you have been told) and he doesnt have pneumonia (as you have also been told).

There's no conspiracy theory. It's all on known facts about what has been told is happening with him and our prior long standing knowledge of what he and the other liarts he surrounds himsef with are capable of.

This is a scam.

If they misbehave they misbehave reporting it is the medias interest - if you lost a dearest one from Covid 19 or they had just about fought for their life - would you think that was ok ?

I couldn’t disagree more , well I think it’s in the media’s interest but I’m not sure it’s in the public’s interest . They constantly report every breach which leads to people thinking , “why am I sat at home if they’re out “ . It’s almost an equivalent of a broken windows theory . It’s exactly like them creating and feeding panic buying by repeatedly showing empty shelves .

The vast majority of the population are complying it’s sadly typical of the media in the country to ramp up the look at this tiny percentage and make everyone feel they’re a huge majority, it’s their go to move .

again I take your point and following the advice is in itself fairly simply . That said surely you can see the frustration of say whitty parroting what lay people were saying 3 weeks ago ? Or watching Gove lie , and he did lie , about shortages of various chemicals .

I’m not looking to spread disaffection or cause problems but I find it difficult to get behind people who treat me like an idiot , ultimately don’t pee in my pocket and tell me it’s raining and frankly that’s what I feel is happening . I’m happy to get on board but I want the truth and it doesn’t feel like I’m getting it . It doesn’t mean I’m trying to tell the CMO what to do or that I know how to run the nhs .

I suppose my thinking is twofold. Firstly, this is a mad situation and mistakes will be made. It's inevitable, so I'm cutting people slack.

Secondly, it's a bit like the wife telling me stuff about her work, and me then thinking I know how to run her department. Even her relatively privileged position only grants her access to a fraction of the information required to run her department. Add in my general ignorance and what would I know?

What are you actually accusing him of ?

If he didn't justify a bed in ICU he wouldn't be in ICU. The only alternative is to imply doctors are being medically negligent by giving him a bed when not needed.

Exactly. Why on earth should anyone believe the spin put on Johnson's stay in hospital when the known details dont support it?

This PM and his gang do not deserve the benefit of the doubt on what they tell us.

again I’m not saying I know how to run it but if she lied to you , blatantly lied about it and you caught her out twice maybe three or four times . I’m guessing you’d be at the very least disappointed and view whatever else she said through that prism and even question some of the things she said in future ? Doesn’t mean you should be appointed CMO but you’d have every right not to simply accept her work related comments .

Are you for real? He's the PM of the country.

"Intensive care". How intense was the care required? Do you know?

I take Johnson and his gang of inveterate liars on their record of truthfulness. Anything short of that scepticism would be extremely naive.

There are degrees of the level of care required within an ICU Dave. If, as has been reported, he is only requiring oxygen support, the intensity of care will be 95% monitoring his sat levels, every 30 minutes or so, and adjusting the levels of oxygen needed. The other 5% will be reserved for a sudden decline in sats, and the need for an up tick in care. Vent most likely.

A junior nurse can monitor sat levels within a ICU. If they can read and clip a clippy thing on his finger.

Policeman been on now, many cars he pulls are either the usual drug dealers still working, or a car full of people in a car stashed with beer driving to a venue to get bevied as they are bored at home in lock down the drug dealers arrested the party goers fined... ........

No one is remotley saying that, it's something YOU have conjured up as a straw man to knock down.
