There are calls for an investigation into the influence of the gambling lobby on the government regarding Cheltenham.

There needs to be repercussions and people held accountable. But there wont, similar to the madrid fans being allowed to travel here and the Steteophonics gigs in Cardiff being allowed to go ahead.

These 3 decisions (esp Cheltenham and Stereophonics gig) could have been responisble for a full on nationwide outbreak.

No point crying over spilt milk.
What’s done is done.

No one knows what impact there has been or there has not been.

Your not unemployed if your furloughed are you? Your basically on stand by

But he's got a cheek expecting work to be done though, should say you'll do it but for 100% wages

I'm claiming the 70% temporary unemployment from the Belgian government since yesterday.

I'm composing an email now to tell him that unless he can tell me in writing I'll be getting 2 days pay for it I'm not prepared to risk it.

I know mate , well I hoped I knew .

To me the government policy on this whole situation feels like someone getting their mistress pregnant and resolving it by just not telling their missus . It’ll work for a little bit but sooner or later they need to come up with another plan .

I dunno, I just can’t see why we can’t prolong lockdown for quite a bit longer. I know some smaller businesses are suffering but by and large the rest of the employed community are getting some form of income right now if not their full income. I just can’t see what they’re complaining about when looking at the bigger picture.

To me it comes across like this: even though we’re giving the unemployed and self-employed 80% of their wage via the government, lots of kids still at schools due to frontline, most kids at home will have a parent/carer, this still isn’t enough for the less vulnerable to live their life and thus we should just let everyone get it and deal with the piles of dead old people on street corners.

I mean, how are children being harmed on lockdown? Does he not realise they get 6 weeks off for Summer every year?

Honesty I think long term there will be socialisation issues with children . I’m not suggesting today or tomorrow but not having children interacting with those of their own age long term may well have An impact on them. Not to mention that school is to a significant number of children a ‘place of safety ‘ whether that’s somewhere to get a meal or to simply protect them from what’s at home . There is more to this than a school holiday .

Yes, there is, but those on free school meals are still getting something at home from the gov. As to the child abuse you’re alluding to that’s gonna happen with or without school and is a completely separate issue.

i think boredom for example is a price well worth paying if it’s saving lives and contributing to society righting itself and if it has to continue then fine . My concern is whether it’s got a purpose, other than breathing room , and I’m aware stuff like this could simply be confirmation bias but articles like the one I quoted simply makes me wonder what the intentions are .

I think the intention is very clear: don’t overload the NHS.
