Not in the slightest. You think Emily Thornberry is in somehow qualified to "do something".

You use Atlee as an example of a good MP.

I agree on your second point, your first indicates you are the one flapping and has your hair on fire.

I am not a fan, but Thornberry did actually do something with her life outside of politics before she entered it.

There is ample reason to believe she would do a better job than, say, someone who went down the well-trodden path of Oxbridge student politics - “journalism” - think tank - safe seat - Government.

I mean, look at how Sunak seems head and shoulders above the rest of them solely because he has half an idea what he is talking about.

Surely because of the huge number of interactions between lots of people each day within 2m of each other?
yeh i was quite surprised by that. But his logic was if people aren't getting infected that way then is it really necessary. He was saying not enough research is going on about how infections take place, like it's known that lots of infections are taking place in crowded events like bars/parties or in the workplace, and not for example in supermarkets, but between those extremes then little thought has gone into it.

But what about the food you've picked up in the shop that's maybe been touched and put back by someone else? There's no end to it really.
Well yes, but you do as much as you practically can, what else as individuals can we do? Hopefully it doesn’t live long on plastic shopping bags

What I'm seeing is fear, ridicule, people who simply don't have the answers and that is understandable.

Putting you hands over your ears and shouting loudly blah, blah, blah isn't going to make this go away.

Clement Attlee was brought into the government during WW2. That is what you do during times of emergency, when you are faced with a crisis all hands are called to the deck.

Can't see a point in it tbh, Labour and the liberals haven't even got leaders at the moment.

If the government stayed on its original course of herd immunity then bringing in a coalition government might have made sense.

What redundancy scheme have you been looking at? the government pays the redundancy, is your firm prepared to top it up? as I was offered it in 2003 and it was a paltry payout with 30 years service.....|?

I'm going on my own company policy and basing it around some colleagues of mine who have left not that long ago.

Finally we agree. There should be no thing as a careerist politician, nor parachuted in candidates. I’d sack every single one of them in Westminster and start all over again. We have more than enough really competent business, industrial, scientific, military, creative people to occupy each seat a thousand times over.....

Not every one - there are a few good eggs who got in - Rosena Allin-Khan for example. Qualified and had a career as a doctor, elected MP, still does shifts in St George’s A+E and according to the papers went back there semi-permanent after the Commons closed.

There were more than a few on the Tory benches too; even Mercer who for all that he has been a suck up as an MP had more life experience than half the Cabinet.

Urm not really would you risk going in with a routine sickness with the chance of catching COVID 19?
I do agree some cases there are unnecessary and the pubs shutting have stopped the minority who abuse A&E with drunkenness, and injuries from being drunk etc.... plus other complaints that are unnecessary, bad backs etc etc....yes it proves most underlying injuries can me self managed... so you have a point, but with the sad news of NHS staff not wearing the correct protective gear - that will deter many people justified or not...

I'm not saying that it wouldn't stop people going for minor stuff, of course it would. I pulled something in my chest or bruised ribs last week and it's still painful when I breathe, nevermind moving about - I haven't slept properly for a week but I ain't going to the doctors! So it's easy to see that it makes a difference too.

But there is also less risk of having to go to a&e. Try putting that into the statistics though...
